Just be a man and change the damn OS to 64Bit.
While the tone isn't what I would aprove of, the message is correct.
I would recommend springing for a 64 bit OS, given that the amount of 16 bit programs you see today is more of a statistical anomaly than a real concern. As the 64 bit environment has reverse compatability with 32 bit, you're likely to notice very few problems (if any).
Additionally, this is a good time to upgrade OS and system. Older hardware is problematic when it come to finding 64 bit drivers. Windows 7 has made the leap to 64 bit very easy, and the expanded access to system resources is refreshing (especially in games).
If you're not sure about 64 bit you can always set up a dual-boot system...
