I want to change my router's configuration, but whenever I try to access its homepage, the router seems to reset itself and the connection breaks for several minutes. I tried to access the homepage by typing my IP or http://home as an adress, both used to work before, but I get that response when I do it now. The router is a 2wire 2701HG-T. Can you give me any advice, maybe go ask in another page? Thanks.

30-30-30 rule, should fix you right up.

http://compnetworking.about.com/b/2009/03/11/the-30-30-30-hard-reset-rule-for-routers.htm

Just for giggles, clear your internet cache as well.

OH, and also try and not do it over wifi, try using a hard line into the back of the router when connecting.

EDIT: instead of an alias, try accessing it with its ip, usually 192.168.1.1 , or 192.168.0.1, or 192.168.1.100, or 192.168.0.100 (Have seen a combination of all of these before)
