Yeah if you try to like this game it will eventually grow on you, I have a retail copy which was bought for me by my friend and I went back to bad company 2 after a week or two of playing it.

Although if I were to spend any money on this game it would be for the single player and the zombie mode.

Downloaded. Though Mailman and TRIPTEX's comments have me expecting to like it even less now it's pretty good timing even if only for the weekend as Im tired of like everything else I have. ECH's praise is kind of curious but he usually marches to the beat of his own drum.

Though I'm also not sure if my spray and pray skills are up to snuff to say nothing of my lineup of racial and sexual insults/slurs.

I guess we'll see.

Get it even cheaper

Ok, Steam might have a sale on now and are flogging it for £27. However, you can get it from Amazon for just £20 - and you even get a box that you don't know what to do with. :laugh:

That sounds like pretty good value to me.

The retail DVD version is Steam also, so no dodgy DRM, as mentioned in this really negative Amazon review.

I'll be buying it off Amazon, or perhaps another retailer if they do it even cheaper.

Well its okay but so so. Maps have some impressive background, but gameplay is standard. Very small maps.

The weapons in this game are a bit different then what you expect from BC2 though. For example the MP5K has a bit of a kick to it keeping it from being a decent all around weapon at long range.

As you progress you do get better weapons. If this is your 1st time stick with the MP5K and scope it until better weapons unlock. The m16 2-3 round burst is simply horrible against vets (which you will mostly play against) as they use full auto assault rifles of some kind.

As the game is set in the 60's and I assume that they're modelling their virtual guns on the real ones, which likely were a bit crap back then, so I'm not surprised at this.

I just noticed that the sound positioning is this game is really good. I can tell the position of someone who's reloading, etc. Man, I missed having that.

It feels like the console game. Really easy to get a good k/d ratio. Speaking of which, even in objective-based games a lot of people only go for kills. Now I remember why I left the game in the first place.

There seems to be a lot you can customize in this game. Kinda additive to. I'm not into the name tag stuff though.

Hmm, I'm still trying to figure out how they edit their own user name tag (or is it called player card?) stuff though. I've seen some wired one pop up on the screen that don't look like default selections.

Personally as a hardcore fan of CoD1 -- COD2 didnt sit right with me. I bought the game but i rarely played it. Carried on playing COD1/UO until BF2 came a long then started playing that instead

Pro Tips

1. Don't worry about getting scopes for your guns. The maps don't warrant them. However, it's fun tweaking them so you can put in your on reticle type/color and lens color though.
2. Don't worry about how accurate the guns are. Worry about the RPM.
3. No matter what people tell you Domination on NukeTown is 'the' fastest way to rank up.

Thought the multiplayer on the xbox 360 version was okay nothing special just another average shooter. Cant put my finger on it but the pc version feels slightly different. Overall the games much more fast paced compared to something like Bad Company 2 which isn't a bad thing its just different.

Some of the maps i don't like but nuke town is okay its compact so you get a lot of kills and deaths going on.

The free weekend is nearly up, nice for a weekend but i dont if i want to go and buy the game for its just not that compelling.

EDIT: I too find the spawning annoying, since you can spawn and die instantly.
