ColorFire released its new Xstorm HD 6850 graphics card. ColorFire is a sister-brand of Colorful, which focuses on AMD Radeon-based graphics cards, as Colorful specializes on NVIDIA GeForce ones. Shortly after its introduction, the ColorFire team led by overclocker Carl from China was able to break a 3DMark Vantage record for the Radeon HD 6850. The overclocker achieved P27751 points, some 3810 points ahead of the previous record-holder. The card sustained overclocked speeds of 1500 MHz core and 1275 MHz (5100 MHz GDDR5 effective) memory, and backed by an Intel Core i7-980X clocked at 5.7 GHz, with the entire setup being cooled by liquid nitrogen. The HWBOT validation can be found here.

The Xstorm HD 6850 from ColorFire features the same mid-range exorbitance characteristic of Colorful. It features a PCB with a strong VRM, making use of high-quality components; and a large cooler. It features 1 GB of memory, a 4+1 phase VRM, dual-BIOS, OCP unlock switches, and consolidated voltage-measure points. The VRM uses high-grade chokes and POSCAP capacitors. The cooler uses a large (quiet) fan to cool a big heatsink to which heat is conveyed by three heat pipes.

WOW that looks also. Why does it need 2 pins? I thought the 6850's only require one.

    For more power ?

It was running at 1500mhz core as well and one 6pin wouldn't supply enough juice.

Looks good, but cooling performance not optimal. Makes no sense.

    Sense:
heatsink move heat. fan go woosh. woosh blow heat.
    *motions with her hands*

Everyone's anal expiation of "optimal" is tiring. It'll never be "optimal" enough trust me.

Meh. Clocking the memory doesn't net you much. GPU is much more important.

I'd love to see them jam two of those fans onto that heatsink. Then sell it over here in the states with a great warranty to back it up. :rockout:

its not to late to make a record breaking anything. Some of the best stuff comes later. I remember when ROG cards and boards were REALLY ROG and came out towards the end now they launch with them. Sure there cool but the best stuff comes after everyone has messed around with it. If someone has something better to offer by all means do it. Not everyone buying a card buys it on launch day. Believe it or not someones buying 6850s right now.... and now..... and now. Never to late to market anything. 6850 is still relatively new (thought cards now come at a faster rate).
