Controller Issue - XBOX 1 on PC

Hi,
Not sure if I am posting in the right section but I have a issue.

I have two XB1 controllers plugged into my gaming rig. Whenever I try to play a game, my controller that I would want to be my default (because of design and customizations) is always defaulting to Player 2 while my standard XB1 remote is player 1.

Short term fix, plug out the default XB1 remote.. but with both plugged in, any ideas how to get the one I actually want to be noticed as Player 1?

Any help / ideas is very much appreciated.

Thanks!

On windows?

Go to the Devices and Printers control panel.

Right-click one of your gamepads and select "Game controller settings".

Click "Advanced".

Select the controller you wish to always be #1, and click OK to close out the windows.

Thanks for your response, I'll try this when I get home and let you know! Also, yes it's on Windows!

Thanks again!

Yeah, the windows game controllers system leaves something to be desired.

It only lets you choose primary, and not create an ordered list of controllers, so if there's more than two... that and the fact that at least half the games out there straight up ignore the setting (like the one you're running, apparently).

Since that option didn't do the trick for you, you might be stuck. Hopefully somebody else can chime in with something else you can try, but what I ended up doing for myself was just buying a USB hub with switches so I could turn my game controllers off and on, only having one (or the group I wish to use) "connected" at a time (I've got an X360 Wireless receiver, Joystick, Throttle, Pedals, etc - and most games seem to crap out if there's multiple devices attached. Some older ones even ignore everything after the "primary" controller)
