usually memory is one of those things that really doesnt get hot to explode in your case, but it does make cheap memory expensive.

putting those ramsink will make your dimms really get warm, therefore you need a fan to be cooling them off.

Try this: OCZ. the website reported it last week. Waiting for it to come in stock in the U.S. Probably the best thing you can do for your memory.

The Koolance mem sink is not good... it uses "bags" to contact the memory... yes, water flows through plastic bags, right above your memory...

Personally, I prefer memory with no heatspreaders, and just a fan blowing onto the mems...

that's a *sweet* looking memory cooler. would like to read some reviews of it.

i like the fact you can adjust the position with the thumbscrews; the modified zalman cpu cooler i'm using leaves me very little room between the fan blades and my ram. that ocz thing would work great.

i'm currently just using an antec spot cool aimed full time at the ram. works, but not the most aesthetically pleasing.

The first one got recommended to me by someone on 2cpu. My RAM already has heatspreaders though. I'm thinking about mounting a 80mm fan in a similar way.

Try touching an AMB chip. They don't exactly run cool.

jobs a good'un

NIce suggestions...

I have 2x1Gb DDR2 SD at the moment and cos i often run multiple applications (which - in all fairness - the comp doesn't have a problem with) the memory does tend to get a little toasty. So much so in fact that I was worried I had burned myself when I touched it...

Since then I hold back on maxing the memory usage...

I do have one 80mm fan on the chassis pointing at the memory but it still runs ar around 35 on startup and around 45 average... which I know can't be good...

Try this: OCZ. the website reported it last week. Waiting for it to come in stock in the U.S. Probably the best thing you can do for your memory.

They look sweet - would have to look for something similar in the UK...

if you want to cool your ram as best as you can then this is the only thing i have ever found for H2O cooling ram.....i'm looken to get a set by xmas this year....

http://www.koolance.com/shop/produc...d=251&osCsid=b097bcc148a81288ca5715bd42397dbd

Yeh, that looks wicked. I should be gettin my Thermaltake Bigwater end of this year/later next year, so will probably get one of these and mod the tubing to fit onto these....

Look out for pics of my system on the gallary in a few months time...

I got this neon crab thing http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835119011it seems to do the job just the neon lights are a little annoying

Dude, just cut the wire that runs to the blinking lights - jobs a good'un. U get to keep the blue lights too...

time?

What program do u use to view the timings of the memory?

What does changing the timings actually do? Technically speaking?

What can you use to modify the timings?

Does it REALLY improve performance?

Cheers:toast:

I was considering cutting the wire but I don't have a window so the lights only bug me when the side panel is off, I usually leave it on so their not really a problem.

Benchmarks surely love timings. Bandwidth could really improve. If you will notice it in real world usage is another question. Memory dependant programs will love it. Others won't care. Though if you can lower them without problems there is no reason not to.

You can use tools like Everest or CPU-Z to view timings.

best

And what are the best memory timings? Do the best settings change with each system?

Does the memory heat up with changed timings?

To answer your questions Lower is usually better, yes, and it's possible
