Crossfire, 3rd GPU not showing.

Just got in the mail my PowerColor 6870 x2, replacing my 2x 6870's.

So I'm keeping 1x 6870 and crossfiring it with my new 6870x2 to have 3 Gpus or "Tri-fire"

Now the 6870x2 is showing, but the single 1x 6870 isn't showing up.

Before installing the card I did all the standard preparations:

Uninstalling the current drivers in safe mode w/ driver sweeper
Disabled crossfire
Dis-connected the crossfire bridge
Installed new drivers
reinstalled cfx bridge
and rebooted into windows
..etc

But the 1x XFX 6870 isn't showing up

Any ideas?

It seems as if you are doing it correctly. I'm wondering if it will work due to the 6870x2 being an uncommon card.

So i'm returning the 6870x2 because it's been one big headache from the start. Nothing is working right. But enough of that, now I have a new problem.

I went back to my original setup, 2x 6870s. But crossfire isn't working now. Every time I go to install the drivers it installs and prompts me to reboot once done.

I reboot and load up and the drivers didn't install. It's telling me that there aren't any drivers currently installed.

But as soon as I remove the crossfire bridge/remove card, everything works.

I don't know why the drivers aren't installing even after telling me they installed with no problem.

I tried switching the cards and same result. No matter which lane, I get the same error.

Both cards work by them selves, as soon as I try to boot into windows it tells me there's no drivers installed.

Is it possible since the 6870x2 is a dual-gpu card that it messed up how my pc reads crossfire? Should I re-install the 6870x2 and then uninstall the drivers? Or would this be a waste of time?

Have you tried both cards seperately since returning your 6870? Is there a chance one of them may have gotten damaged?

Yes, both cards work by them selves.

Its generally drivers that gives this problem. It could also be your pci-e slot.
