I'm buying it as well; have had my eye on it for a short while now. Never played the original HL2 mod or even of heard of it before though.

If you ever get to playing Half Life 2 get the Cinematic 10 mod makes HL2 look real pretty.

I do read. I also checked the you tube source as the site vid didnt run. So i used you tube as point of reference. Yes, it was initially a mod but it doesn't mean it'll look vastly different. The intro video is lavish and beautiful and if that's the game then by heck I want it.

Can you point me to a gameplay video of it for me?

And to be cheeky, you dont read either ;)

    Steam page shows this

I don't know about you, but to me, thats pretty clear this isn't the mod you are looking at (also the fact that the video you linked looks horrible by comparison). I can't point you to a gameplay video, games not out yet and I haven't heard of it before this thread. But that doesn't look like a pre-rended video, and the store page shows screens that have the same quality as the video (and I havent ever seen a Steam game that showed screenshots only from pre-rended videos).

That was all said while being "cheeky", as I don't know what you are implying I didn't read. Also not sure if you cut your post off early, whats From steam info page?

This is not the mod, it's a remake of that mod using the source engine.

    This:
    You said,
The steam store page says it pushes the source engine. So I was implying you hadn't read the info either (as you had first implied i hadn't read stuff, it was a tongue in cheek retort).

I'm not looking for a web spat buddy. It does look as if the game is running source at a really cool level so it's more than likely going in my basket when it becomes available on steam.

On a tangent, saw Alan Wake is out on 16th. Read some reviews - anyone know if it's any good? Had my eye on it..... 5 years ago.
    1Kurgan1 says thanks.

You got me :p I only read the small description up top and watched the video. rarely do I read the full description and bulletins below.

Though it does seem the engine has come a long ways over the years, will be interesting if it really does look as good as that video.

It does look pretty good from the vid they have posted. Like how when they released Lost Coast and how great a showcase it was for Sources abilities.

looks like a new modern day myst to me as well. Intriguing. I love to explore pretty enviroments, especially if they put a good story behind it, and 10$ is a good number for me to blindly jump on.

The review makes it sound like a "slightly more depressing" Myst without puzzles

I am currently uploading a 1080p video of my first impressions of this game, so it will be a few hours until it is up. When it is, I will post the link in this thread. So far I feel that the game is excellent, though clearly not typical fare for most games it is quite unique.

    Link: *soon*
