i'm trying to eke a couple of more mos. out of my agp machine. i have a sapphire x800 gto running fine[only 12 pipes]. but that wasn't good enough for me, so i put in a pc power and cooling silencer psu and got a sapphire x850 xt. the x800 runs fine but when ever i try to swap in the x850 i get a no signal to monitor. the diagnostic lights are all green. the sapphire forums have not been any help[just ridicule for having a dell]. been to the dell forums no help. what am i missing? i am at a loss why my machine would run the x800 but not the x850. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Double check and make sure there is a power connector plugged into the video card.

My X850XT screams in big red letters on the screen PLUG IN THE POWER CABLE YOU DORK!

LoL

I had a similar problem with my X800 when I first got it. I cleaned the connectors with 91% alcohol and it worked fine after that.

Do you get any beeps? Make sure a speaker is plugged in, and look for a possible jumper.

Does the power light turn any special colors?

Can you give the card a shot in a different PC?

thanks for hanging in there with me. i don't have another computer that i think would run the card. what happens is that when i power up i get no beeps the monitor doesn't turn on. the machine does finish it's post. when i turn the monitor on manually is when i get the no signal to monitor on the screen. i've got support tickets in with both ati and sapphire[we'll see if i get a response].

well, after a whole string of emails to sapphire and ati[amd], it turns out that there was a mistake in the packaging of this particular card. ati customer support was nil, but sapphire finally came thru and after rma'ing the bad card i now have a 850 xt running in my aging agp machine. hope this may help somebody.
