Bungie's new smash-hit Destiny 2 is in Beta now, and we took a closer look at its graphics options and performance. We're happy to report that there is no FPS cap, and FOV can be adjusted, too. Joining our test group of 14 cards are the AMD Radeon RX Vega 56 and Vega 64, with slightly surprising performance numbers.

Glad they stuck with DX11. I don't like Microsoft pushing their new stuff to lock you into Windows 10. There is nothing wrong with DX11 as I've explained in other posts.

Game runs pretty good if you turn some stuff off. It runs fine on my XPS 9560 with a crappy GTX 1050 (until it throttles due to it being a laptop). I was getting 40-70FPS in both the campaign and mutiplayer with some stuff turned down at 1080p.

I'm disappointed this was tested with HDR off. HDR is supposedly a thing of beauty in this game, it would have been nice to see what's required to drive it.

Just adding a Ryzen, GTX 1070 point for comparison:

Runs smooth as silk on my system @ 2560*1080, locked 60, render resolution @ 125%. No frame skipping, perfectly fluid.

W1zzard's screen doesn't support HDR. From what I've read, HDR support in this game is great out of the box, but its actual effects in image quality isn't up to what is expected.

I figured that was the reason (looking for a nice 4k HDR monitor myself, but they're priced out of this world), but it would still be nice to know the overhead it brings ;)

105 Horizontal.

It's not that limited, is it?

Edit: Just download the Beta and test it.

Could you post the total system RAM usage while gaming (not the game process memory usage), please?

Now that's just mean. Just let the RX580 be superseded by a couple more generation and watch it gain a whopping 10% more performance. Then you'll know you've got your money's worth.

I was pleasantly surprised by the graphics in this beta. I thought that it may have a little bit more of a console look to it, but I have to agree with the review in that it looks "very good" for a game today. I really liked some of the lighting, water, and depth of field effects (usually I'm much of a fan of DOF or motion blur). Ran awesome on a Strix 1080 @ factory OC of 1809Mhz boost clock & 5820K @ 4.0ghz, 2560X1440.

Now Asus needs to bring out the dang PG35VQ monitor... Destiny 2 supports 21:9 and HDR and I think the game would be a great showcase for it. I was really hoping they would have it released in time for the game launch... I can't wait to grab one!!

What for?
This is a GPU review. @W1zzard mentioned many times that testing is very time consuming and he tries to choose a system that bottlenecks the GPU as little as possible (and not very exotic/expensive at the same time). Today 7700K is perfect for that. Tomorrow it could be 8700K or 7740X or maybe even a Threadripper.

It's good to see that there is no 60 FPS cap. In the V-Sync options you may choose between "30 FPS", "60 FPS", and "Off".
on mine i have option for 144fps in that field.
