Hi,

I have a Athlon XP 3.4 processor and its sitting on a ga-7n400 pro2 mobo, the bios tells me the CPU temp is 49C but when im within windows and use apps like PC Wizard and Speedfan they tell me its 34C ?

Whos correct or are they measuring different things?

Cause i was thinking of getting a better heatsink and fan but if its running at 34C i dont really need to

Can anyone offer any advice please :) ?

Thats 2-1 on the readings, besides I don't see how a chip could be 49*C in the BIOS anyway. I would trust PC Wizard and Speedfan. But, you may want to consider some Arctic Silver 5 or Arctic Cooling Ceramique, rather than the factory thermal goop they probably buy 2KG's of it for half a pound :D (or is it euro in the UK now?)

Why would the bios read that temperature though? Does it read a different part of it compared to the other software applications?

Ive recently changed the paste as it was running at 79C and then it dropped to 49C in the bios
