You know what's funny. That my 7900GTX renders the game better than the screenshots being shown here of the 8800GT and I have seen lots of other ones of 8800GT with older drivers witch were better than on mine. I see a little bit of biased info here guys... This thread is dead for me as of now.

Actually you are right somehow. But look at this:

http://www.crysis-online.com/?id=449

It's a DX9 vs Dx10 comparison, both at Very High. It seems it is a DX10 driver isuue after all. Incredible.

Biased info? oh well... I guess the rest of your statement gets you off the hook for having to respond to my previous post. I gueess you realised you were incorrect.

Thats interesting tho what you say about your 7900, do you want to post some screenies too?

I would be interested to see them :toast:

In order to post screenies I would need to install the Very High DX9 pack again (now unistalled), make many tweaks on it because it won't run as it is, make an account on Rapidshare or Imageshack, learn how they actually work, and some more work... No I won't post any screenies on my comp.

Anyway, as you can see in the DX9 vs DX10 comparison I linked. The differences between DX10 and DX9 are the same as between 8800GT and HD3870. So as I said: fixable driver issue, versus HD3870 will always perform 20% slower. I will conceed though that on DX10 the Ati one looks better, now that I'm sure it is not because of LOD. But on the first images compared, different LOD is used, drivers don't chance geometry. And was there where my claims focused. The fact that on my computer (DX9) the game looked better confused me, so sorry for that, you won there. I never worry about rectificating.

Hope everything is clear now.

Yeah it's a pain. :( It's a shame because I had some pics until past Sunday, but I have the bad(?) habit of deleting what I think it's not useful anymore.

But what about DX9 vs DX10? It nearly makes me cry... The ones of 8800GT that I mentioned before wich looked better than mines were also taken in DX9. I must agree then that Ati has better drivers as long as DX10 is being used.

But on the hardware side, wich is what you buy after all, Nvidia is still better IMO. Drivers will come, and this problem with DX10 happens only on Crysis AFAIK.

EDIT: Damn I double posted!!:banghead:

Yeah, on those it does look better. But I hold on that IMO it doens't justify the performance difference. Especially when you can just swicht to DX9 and have both, good IQ and superb performance.

Anyway even if it is a driver issue, I still think lower LOD is been used. Wether it is a bug on the drivers or intended.

btw, did you partake in the gpu/cpu benchmark thread?

my 2900xt was flying high with the GTX cards etc. So performance is in fact very similar, a few frames here or there does not diminish the experience, especially when there is very good image quality:

Nope, I wasn't there. But look at your card, you have it massively OC'ed. But at stock or at same OC levels Nvidia has won the performance crown at every segment this generation. You just can't argue with me on this.

But to be honest, since I don't care about Vista nor DX10 as of now, I don't care about that IQ issue. I am going to buy the card that offers the best performance, because on DX9 there isn't any difference. I was thinking about buying Vista just to play Crysis on very high but since I know that not only very high is possible on XP, but that it looks better... LOL. Bye Vista see you later, when you actually start to worth my money.

you misunderstood, I wasnt arguing with ya, I was stating how the 2900 is a good card, while offering lower frame rates (not much lower) it provides excellent image quality :toast:

16x af opened from windows

else everthing is default @ windows settings

Here is something I forgot to mention in my previous post. I don't recall the other user saying that 16x AF was used. :shadedshu
So, does it take one video card to use 16x AF to equal the IQ of another? Discuss!

Correction: both use 16x AF :)

I used 16x AA from windows ccc, so that my settings were as much inline with those offered for comparison

As you can see the SS from mandelore, top, left of center, bush is more fuller IMO
As you can see the SS from mandelore, bottom left of center bush is more fuller and dark green IMO
As you can see the SS from mandelore, Moss on the mountain looks a tad more greener IMO
As you can see the SS from mandelore, left...the slope is shaper overall mountain is slightly shaper. But not my much IMO
Also, the palm leafs on the tree (center) look greener, sharper IMO.
