The problem with Doom 3/Quake 4/Rage engines is the presentation of surface materials. Sure they sometimes look really good, but for the most part all surfaces have that plastic like matte feel and I hate it. And guess what, if you look at the skeleton, it has the exact same crap going on. I'm starting to think it's not a design decision but the way how engine renders, shades and applies lighting to surfaces...

I like Doom but like RejZoR said they need or better, they must! improve. That Skeleton is no way sexy.
