Yeah, you got a bad card for sure there buddy. Kill the card and they can't argue with you...

Think how powerful your argument will be if you then remind them with something like "I told you the card was bad with those lines and now it's dead - now give me another!" Said diplomatically and politely, of course. ;)

When i rang them before the first time they said they didnt have stock - so if i manage to get a return i will have to wait - maybe that would be a good thing anyway as it would be new stock (i hope).

In the meantime aswell i got my 4890 that works wonders - thinking why i actually wanted to upgrade in the first place.

Well, let's hope they don't keep you waiting indefinitely with that "no stock" excuse. 5870s aren't exactly rare and haven't been discontinued yet. Overclockers pulled that trick on me once and when I looked at their website, the product showed as 10+ in stock, yet I was still "waiting". So I called them up and pointed out this little fact and lo and behold, the tossers gave me my replacement two days later.

www.overclockers.co.uk - try to browse, but not buy. Their customer service sucks.

The 4890 is indeed very good. I had the older 4870 512MB and that was immensely powerful. However, when it comes to rendering games and frame rates, your PC is never powerful enough! Run modern games at high res and high AA and the differences will clearly show. I think the 5870 is about 1.5 - 2 times as powerful?

I really want you to win with this one, man. :rockout:

Well good news!

Got them to test my machine on mine and theirs and it was indeed the card that was faulty. Replaced it with another 5870 and so far its working flawlessly with the games im playing that i couldnt do so before.

Just want to thank everyone for their time and help last couple days!

Great news, I'm glad the shop didn't stitch you up or make you jump through any more hoops to get a replacement. :)
