How is Vivendi going to sell Acti without getting stuck having to pay that huge court settlement with West and Zampella that their suit with them will no doubt result in, or take much less for them than they'd like? Either way, Acti is one of the biggest lemons in publishing right now. No one in their right mind would want to buy them, unless the price were pretty low.

The value of all game companies is going to drop or has dropped as they invest in new engine tech for next-generation consoles. These engines cost millions for liscencing, and don't tend to pay off until years after investment...when titles launch,

For small companies, that would be true, not for EA. EA predominently uses Frostbite 2 by DICE and many of their other studios use either that, some custom engine (for The Sims), or Unreal Engine 3. EA, especially, is failing because the CEO in charge now, when he became CEO, bought out Bioware with huge promises--pretty much every Bioware title since the buyout has done poorly especially when compared to similar Ubisoft products.

Valve please buy EA asap! And destroy that origin/battlelog bullshit. Put BF3 on Steam, as it was meant to be!

Valve is estimated to be worth $2-4 billion. EA is worth more than $4 billion.

Bankruptcy. Other publishers could buy out EA's studios. That's far more attractive to them than buying out the whole corporation. They've seen EA's track-record. Most publishers want nothing to do with them.

I would be very glad to see it, the demise of Origin would be welcome as well, but I prefer the sold off in portions scenario rather than simply replacing the guys at the top - too big, too concerned about pleasing shareholders rather than customers and too willing to resort to formulae rather than imagination.

Smaller companies have swallowed larger ones before, especially when they are privately held like Valve is currently. Fingers crossed! If EA's stock price continues to drop there will be interested parties.

I'd rather EA be put into chapter 11 and other companies buy up what's left of Bioware, Westwood, Bullfrog, and Maxis. That way we can get well executed continuation of games like Deus Ex: Human Revolution and Fallout 3/New Vegas.

A prime example of EA failing is the Syndicate reboot. They took something good and made it terrible.

Electronic Arts is over 30 years old. they own a lot more properties than what's listed on wiki. I wish I was CEO. casual day everyday and tacos on friday.

My first EA game was a flight simulator, back in the Commodore AMIGA 500 days.
Every cockpit looked the same despite boasting about how many planes they had in the game.

I have not bought many ea games at all. There are other companies that make much better games. I have lots of thq games. Several indie games. Like my favorite right now, Natural selection 2, is an indie game with AAA quality. I have thought about checking out bf3 though.

The ongoing legal battle with West & Zampella and it's outcome is a factor as well. It could change the evaluation of Acti by as much as 1 bill, or even more depending how long it takes and what is compensated for. He also left out one possible buyer. Some are speculating MS might be capable of such a purchase.
