It is replacing a bad 9800 pro.

How do I unlock the other pipelines? Does this card support temperature monitoring?

goodness on the way replacin a 9800 pro and already wanting more out of it? get some enjoyment at stock first before you go voiding your warranty then you cna come back once you actually need the extra performance. The card will easily perform twice as well if not more than that compared to your 9800 pro.

All you need is a program called RivaTuner, you can find full instructions on how to unlock your videocard here:

Don't worry, you won't void the warranty by using RivaTuner, as it will be kinda like a softmod, and if you find your pipelines are broken, you just need to turn them off using RivaTuner, good thing about unlocking vs overclocking, is that you won't increase your core temperatures by unlocking the extra pipelines, as overclocking would do...
Good luck with your video card, hope you get that extra quad and vertex proc unlocked without problems, if you do so you'll have yourself an 6800GT, if the pipelines are broken, just revert everything again with RivaTuner

Yes, your card has a temp sensor, you can see the temp readings in the driver display panel or you can download Atitool and minimize it to the tray were you'll get a constant display of the core temp in celsius.
