Anyone experience the pitfalls with the following parts? A 10 7870K, ASRock Fatality MB, 32 G. Corsair platinum @2400, Corsair H110iGT water cooler. I am working on the cooling tower so I can try a first boot.

only thing i would be concerned about is the cpu capable of only natively running ram up to 2133mhz but asrock motherboards can run XMP so you may have to run the ram a little slower for compatibily reasons.

Forget that. Your playing BF3 on a single core Prescott?

Why don't you list the exact p[arts your working with

The parts right now are as listed above. My old rig ran bf3 in single player only, multiplayer the screen would go black with good sound. On a side note the cpu was a single core, two threads running only @ 3.6 G on air. As usual I am once again working with equipment that will be old in the next two years. I am trying to not put to much money into this, trying to keep it under a 1000.00 .

For under $1000, you can build a very nice gaming computer. For example- http://pcpartpicker.com/p/vQgrdC

And I could shave some of that builds price tag off while still keeping it a good gaming system (drop the SSD, only 8 gb of RAM, change video card to a 380)- http://pcpartpicker.com/p/QzjR23

With that kind of budget, you really ought not be looking at an AMD CPU/APU system. Intel is the way to go for a gaming system today. And about being out of date in 2 years, that CPU should remain capable for another 3-4 years. So 1-2 years from now, upgrade the video card, maybe add RAM if you go for a 8 GB RAM system at first, and add an SSD, and this system will be viable for at least 4 years, if not longer.

Here, try something like this if you want a gaming rig for under $1000:

i5 4690K
MSI Z97 Krait SLI
Mushkin 8gb DDR3 1600 (2 pairs, one with combo and another by itself)

Mushkin 8gb DDR3 1600 (2 pairs, one with combo and another by itself)
CM Hyper 212 Evo
EVGA Bronze 600watt
Seagate 1tb 7200RPM
Corsair Carbide Spec-01
Asus DVD
Sapphire Nitro R9 380X

Shipped its $853

This is trying to keep it well below $1000. Things you could add if you want to go closer is a 256gb SSD, a slightly higher video card like the R9 390, or if you need an OS include that. You could also drop the video card to something like an R9 380 to save some money. Either way though that machine will play BF3 multiplayer at high-Ultra settings no problem (and BF4).

for only $13 more, my build does include a 390. Your build is OC'able, but considering the OP is still running a P4, I doubt they have any clue as to how to OC. No real need for the K CPU and Z motherboard.

Get Skylake,best option...or wait for Zen :)

The lack of performance gains with Skylake isn't really worth the extra money compared to Haswell. Now if the Op could make use of the added features of a Skylake system, then yes, but like I said earlier, with the OP still using a P4, I doubt it.

I thought by the way he was stating it he overclocked the P4...If he does not want to overclock then yea swap them and put a higher GPU.

Well, there's no amount of overclocking a P4 that will ever catch up to what's available today. jcd74 is on a tech site after all, and has overclocked his P4 already, so I wouldn't kill off the idea of overclocking just yet. He hasn't said anything one way or the other about overclocking his new machine.

Ohh you have to overclock it just a little bit, I carry over hot rod fever to my pc. I already started buying equipment. Sorry for the crappy pic I used my dumb phone. I got a all in one water cooler, go ahead poke fun. I needed a cooler and it was on sale locally. So far $170 MB-APU, 32G @2400 $250 Corsair water cooler $130. So i'm 550 in the hole. Reusing old case and 750w PSU.

HOLY F..., you paid $550 for just those parts and still don't have a video card and have to reuse a very old power supply and case? Can you return them? Even going with an OC'ing system, you can do a lot better for the money. Here is a complete system that is OC'able, performance wise will run circles around that APU based system you started on and is just over $100 more than you've already spent. Please tell me you can return what you've bought already.

Your gear is kind of mismatched OP. You're putting together a low end APU with some high end bits (280mm AIO and 32 GB of RAM).

That is a horribly mismatched system... 32GB of ram? For what?!! Unless you use over 16GB, there isn't a point. 16GB is PLENTY for at least a couple (3-4) years. Not to mention, not sure an APU will run over 2133 in the first place. So you paid a premium for something you can't use the full potential of.

280mm AIO on an APU is classic... I can fart and cool an APU adequately :p. Another giant waste of cash.

Im worried about the PSU... I hope its at least a quality brand... but if it was from the P4 days, I would trash that thing ASAP.

Honestly, for the money you spent versus what rigs were posted up here, you shot yourself in the foot big time. Id return it all and start over. Seriously. Why ask us what to build and go completely off the rails and get that?!!

His first post implied that he has the parts already. But since it wasn't clear people gave him part purchasing suggestions anyway.

Well actually the APU's will go to 2400mhz even though it states up to 2133. Have not met one of the new architecture variants yet that struggle with that, but beyond is out of the question as I have yet to hit one that will do it in any fashion (least without playing with it for awhile).

The most expensive part seems to be the ram, any particular reason you went with so much? I mean for that price I feel there is a better alternative.

I sorry I was not looking for advice on what to buy, I need to know the problems with the components I bought from the members experience. Yes 32 G of Dominator Platinum is over kill, but at 125$ a set I could not help but buy a second set at that price, a year ago it would have cost me 225$ for 16 G. The MB will support 2400 all 4 dimms . Has anyone installed 32 G yet?, what is the bandwidth of this? I said what the hell, let's find out. The water cooler is oversized yes I know but I needed a cooler and I would have spent 70$ for a air solution , I can re-plumb later and cool other things. the radiator is to big I have to mod the case and besides it gives me overclock headroom. The psu is a OCZ unit I bought 2 years ago it checks ok, It can get me to first boot and hold me together for a while.
I know it's just an APU, but crazy thought is to cut memory speed in half with half the timings and move up from there to fool software, both AMD and Intel are offering 128 Bit instructions for heavy moments. Later down the line I can add a video card, not crossfire and leave the GPU on to boost CPU performance and dedicate instructions to the APU thru windows system files?
