I have a HIS HD4650 DDR3 (600/650). With Overdrive I can take it up to 650/800 but I was wondering if I could modify the bios to get the card to 720/1000 limits. Afterburner and Trixx get the same limits as OD.

Apparently, the HIS HD4670 AGP can OD up to 820/1000 and seems to have the same layout and use the same memory as the HIS HD4650 so the only limitation seems to be the OD profile.

I see that the HIS 4670 has an IceQ cooler but I'm not too concerned since the Sapphire HD4650 has a small cooler similar to that of the HIS 4650 and its OD limits were 712/550 which were attainable without problems.

It's not listed: http://www.techpowerup.com/rbe/

However, I moved your thread to the RBE section as it is entirely possible that RBE will support the card as a "4670" is listed. Perhaps someone with the answer will chime in.

Cheers. :toast:

Thank you.

If flashing isn't possible I intent to buy an HD4670 AGP and swap the cooler and bracket. This rig is going to go into a Shuttle case once I upgrade so a two slot card is out of the question.

EDIT: I tried the RacerX application and didn't chage the OD limits.

EDIT2: I got an spare card just in case things go wrong. I'll try RBE over the weekend. :toast:

Just a question: If the flashing goes wrong, can I use the IGP as an auxiliary display device? The RBE manual says that I should get a PCI card in order to attempt a reflash.

yes

trixx should not be limited to the CCC overdrive limits, are you sure?

trixx shows both upper limits as 900 but if I select 720/900 and press "apply" the slider bounces back to 650/800. I don't know if that makes sense, it's my first time using AB or Trixx; always used OD for overcloking.

EDIT: Digged a little more and found out about the "unofficial overclocking mode" in AB and worked!!! Looks like my memory can only go up to 882Mhz  I guess I'll keep them at 880 for added stability. Core working at 720 and only runs about 3ºC hotter according to GPU-Z.

Going to run some benchmarks. :pimp:

EDIT2: I got some artifacts in the 3dmark06 HDR tests; had to lower memory clocks to 870Mhz. Still, that's 70Mhz more than what OD allowed me and for a 128bit card every bit of extra bandwidth counts. I decided to keep the core at 700Mhz as the extra 20Mhz just netted me 0.5 fps. Looks like the chip is starving for bandwidth. Thank you all.

EDIT3: Forgot to update, it seems that I downloaded an older beta version of Trixx. Downloaded again, this time from Sapphire's site, and works fine with the card. I've read that AB might conflict with Punkbuster so I decided to use Trixx instead.
