Hmmm, so you had this installed on a 7600GT without problems?

Was it a reference PCB based one?

I also may be interested in that psu, but both items would have to wait for me. LMK about the cooler..... ;)

Its VERY close, I will have to switch to onboard ATi's for a minute to double check it. I am still at an in-between whether or not I want the psu though.

I have a same design + same cooler 8600GT from EVGA. Thinking may be this cooler will fit. Mine runs at 47C idle and 50C load. Will I get any improvement using this cooler? What was ur temps?

i was going to, but then i gave it away...

on stock cooling 7600gt reached 76c
V1 Ultra never went above 63, so ~13c drop from stock cooler + you can add a second fan

looking at this pic, i bet it will fit without any problems, there is absolutely nothing in a way of heatpipes.
    but i have not tried it, i don't have 8800gt :) so i simply can't guaranty it for 100%

EDIT: there is also other components at the end of 8800gt that need to be cooled, so you will need a heatsink for that too, but as i understand it is optional...
