Full Hard Disks

I assume that this will be a stupid question but i always wondering.

If you completely cover a hard disk is really a problem?

is really a problem to use all the hard drive space so that the indicator turns red?

It's not recommended, because you choke the filesystem and defrag won't work when there's less than 10% free space left.

yep, beside that when you use large amount of data it would slow coz theres no space left. i usually leave about 10-20% from hdd capacity

Where I work, we use VMs for client workstations. The guy that originally planned these chose 10GB as the drive size. Unfortunately, as more and more people log into them, they fill up with user profiles and such. I spent the past two days cleaning about 45 of them up.

When the drives get full, performance is very slow, programs won't run, and new users can't log in (because there's not enough room for a new profile). And as qubit said, it's nearly impossible to get a decent defrag out of them either.
