Hey everyone, I'm considering going completely SSD (1 MLC 64gb for cache to use maximum allowed cache size) + another 128GB for storage/programs and then off-setting the lack of storage by using external (usb 2/3) drives...(I have plenty of ext space avail)
Is there any advantage to using the cache drive (msata, built in on the motherboard, it's a Gigabyte Z77 chipset board) if using a SSD drive internally, or am I just being redundant at this point? Should I just be installing everything on the larger SSD and calling it a day?
That or I'll use the 64GB cache MLC drive + x2 Raptors in Raid 1 (for mirroring, I would never do striped), I like the idea of data mirroring which I've never bothered with...
How much of a performance hit am I looking at between these two solutions? Just curious if anyone has any experience with these various configs and can offer some feedback...
Appreciate ANY thoughtful guidance.
