Once You Know, You Newegg

Hey guys, how does my build look?

Opinions and suggestions welcomed.

Notes:

This build is for hardcore gaming mainly. I want to be able to run every game on max settings with great to reasonable FPS, which is why I chose that card.

Thanks!

Looks reasonable but what resolution you gaming at? You say you want every game at max settings - that's entirely resolution dependent. Card would be fine up to 1680x1050 but if you game at 1920x1200 I'd say you'll suffer soon enough. If you're gaming at the higher resolution I'd recommend GTX 570/580 HD 6950/6970. Some games already use more than 1gb of memory so 1gb is limiting as the resolution gets higher.

Isn't there only a minimal performance difference between the 560 ti and 570?

You need an SSD and GTX570 / 6970 min - I would try everything to get those into your budget even if it means a stock cpu cooler and cheapo case. :)

It's not that serious. Haha. I thought the GTX 560 Ti would be sufficient, but you guys seem to disagree pretty strongly on that. Do you think it's worth it if I got this?:

EVGA 015-P3-1580-AR GeForce GTX 580 (Fermi) 1536MB...

Would that make it a solid build? Or is the 570 a better deal?

Also, will there be any bottle-necking? Should I stick with the 2500k or upgrade to 2600k?

I wouldn't do it, 580 is only 7-11% faster than 570 with a price tag of $150+ more than 570. If you are gaming grab yourselft a decent 60-120gb SSD, you will love it. :) And no you will not need 2600K, 2500 is the sweetspot.

I'd hardly call a 560 a hardcore gaming card. That honour is reserved for the 580.

Yeah, but when you look at price/performance it's not very good.

Better.

There are a few things you need to do when you buy a build though:

1) How long do you intend to keep it for. The longer you intend to keep it without upgrade, buy the absolute best you can afford.
2) Can you buy a lower card for gfx that suits purpose now and then crossfire/sli them later? For gaming, the gfx card is the key. An SSD will help loading times but you need to put games onto your SSD which eats space.
3) Personally, as of now (though I've got a 580) if i were you I'd buy a HD 6950 2GB and crossfire it when it becomes too weak for your graphic maxing gaming rig.

Just my thoughts and opinions and are not the only way to go.

ps- the reason I'd not recommend sli with the 570 is simply down to power drain and the 6950 memory is better when they start bring out games that munch over 1.2 GB of memory on a regular basis.

Just throwing this out there, overclocking I know is not for everyone. i5 2400's are nice if you need to save a little bit of cash. They still overclock but just limited as to what they can do compared to their "big brothers".

I don't really have a budget, I mean it was 2k, but I find spending that much is not needed at all. My rule is basically, keep it as low as possible while maintaining a build that can run every game with great performance.

SSDs are a bit too expensive right now for my taste though. I use a lot of storage space so it would be ridiculous to buy enough SSDs to put all my games on. The only thing I have considered was putting my OS on them, but honestly, I don't care about my computers boot times much.

Another reason I don't want to spend unnecessary amounts on hardware is because new technology comes out so fast, I think it's better to save some money and update more frequently, rather than buying the best right now, then being stuck with it for awhile.

And yes, I have considered Overclocking in the future, when needed, you're basically getting free performance. :D

Thanks guys, I really appreciate the help!
