Now that I've finally got a quad core, I can game under Win7. But most games sound is all messed up. I'll get sound effects, but not first person voices, so I don't know what's going on. Dirt2 for instance, I can't hear the narrator, but can hear the cars racing around. I added the exe to alchemy, but doesn't help. Thought I got all sound on my x-fi
xtreme gamer when it was alive, but on this titanium, not working. Any ideas?

Sounds like bad speaker setup.
Go to Win7 audio playback devices and set the speaker configuration according to your setup.
You'll be able to test each speaker there.

I think you've got stereo speakers and the sound card is set to 5.1
Or maybe you've plugged your speakers into wrong jacks on the card.

Cheers,

Yeah you may have a physical speaker config issue as well but uninstall whatever driver you have running and use Daniel K's X-FI Support Pack 2.0 instead. Google that. This allows CMSS 3D and what not to work properly and is simply a better driver and app package for Windows 7 which is why Creative actually hosts it on their forum.

Alchemy is only for old DirectSound games, BTW.

Yeah, stupid x-fi card, works perfect under xp64, but all kinds of weirdness under win7. Turns out it defaults to 5.1 sound until you click redetect... now it's working better. Good to know about alchemy, I tried it on a couple of newer games and it caused more weirdness, I'll just leave it alone.

I'll tell you what: I did a system restore after installing Dirt 2 just to make sure I had completely gotten rid of Rapture 3D, or whatever sound app it is they package with it. It devistated my system's sound, which uses a Creative Xfi. Once it was gone, problem solved.
