i found the original volt mod guide for those pics.. http://www.google.com/translate?u=h...pro-voltmod.html&langpair=de|en&hl=en&ie=UTF8

u also have to do a overvolt protection mod.. i get my x1950pro tomorrow so. by the end of the week she shall be modded up..:rockout: :rockout: :rockout: :rockout: :rockout: :rockout:

I have the Asus eax1950pro

Tried the volt mod as shown above , also adjusting the resistance on 3066 to remove the overvolt protection and it doesn't work for me at all.

checked with voltmeter and I'm still stuck at 1.2V core.

Does anyone know if the modded bios will work on the asus 1950pro. Are these bios's actually confirmed to work? (Checking with Voltmeter)

Good news is that without mods , just watercooling I can get to 634/864

Thats a problem then since we run 1.3v core o_0

Watercooling is overratted. I get 641/850 on air with passive ramsinks.

Actually its great but not effective until you can increase the core voltage.

for instance it also cools my amd 64 3500+ , runs at just over 3ghz@ 1.475 volts
and temps between 17-22 C.

On other video cards I've had, ie. 9800pro, X850XT I've been able to push the core
voltage quite high and get very high overclocks which would not be possible with air.

problem with the 1950pro series its not oc friendly since there are no volt mods available
from what I've seen so far so stock cooling is fine.

If volt mods were available for this core it would scream. I'm at 11k now in 3dmark05 and it plays all the games very smoothly. Very good card for the price.

Remember watercooling is a hobbie also, and we do it because we like to tinker.

I run my 3200 @ 2.7ghz with 1.55v @ 25c-35c on air :) From what I've seen, I think I can run @ lower voltage, but my initial setup that had this running stable was 1.55. Yet I only did that because I thought it would help, but I think my HTT was the problem. All my stuff is cranked WAY up on just air.

I don't even think Voltage will help the 1950s. Going from 1.3 to 1.45 only nets me 8mhz

I'm not familiar with these HIS 1950pro's , how are you increasing the voltage?
Does the bios support software voltage increase for these?

Also will this type of bios work in my card or are there diff . in the actual hardware. I guess your slight diff. in oc on the core is due to the slightly higher core voltage.

Like I said I'm stuck at 1.2V according to the voltmeter measured directly on the board.

The Asus model was quite cheap, thats why I went with it. Just under $190cdn when I purchased it a couple months back.

runs quite cool around 30C

Well 1.3 is stock for the cards and its just a change of BIOS setting. Can't imagine ASUS changing that to lower. 1.45 is the max they support w/o hardware mods. Read this whole thread and you'll learn a lot :)

Dump your BIOS with ATiWinFlash, zip it, and upload it here and we'll see wtfork is the story. I'll crank it all the way to 1.45 for ya then :)

Hi, im having few problems with my card (Msi x1950pro 256mb)and I would like to try different bios to see if it makes a difference, the problem is that no other bios seems to work with this card, I tried several from this thread and even lowered the clocks to stock speeds but all i get is scrambled screen, I didn't really flash them but used rambios to test them. the original bios seems to work even with rambios so I guess something is different in mine. Here's the stock bios of my card so if anyone wants to take a look, I don't really need any tweaks or overclocking I just want my card more stable.

Take a look Formula and see what you think. Appreciate the help. I've been following this thread for a while but have been leary of flashing someone else's bios to the card in fear that it will end up in rma.

As mentioned before I did try the volt mod using conductive grease bridging certain connections as seen on some of the mod sites but that did not seem to give any positive result.

Alright. To start:

Andy, your BIOS didn't even have a Voltage table. I took my stock BIOS and gave it MSI's ID numbers and such. Same memory timings and what not. I gave it .025 more voltage, nothing extreme by any means. Fixed your fan settings so it turns on 100% sooner (60c instead of 100c), stepped it up to that point as well.

Kill, All I did was jolt your GPU with 1.45v heh Left the ram as is, unless you want me to make it like mine. Your call there.

Andys is MSIrv570
Kills is ASUSrv570

Both should be flashable with ATiWinFlash.

Thank you very much. Ill go and try that one. In the meantime I happened to find 2 other suitable bios files from mvktech(sp?) site, powercolor x1950pro and his x1950pro, kinda strange the others won't work but those two do. But I guess I still will try yours because of the little extra voltage etc. Thanks again for quick response.

Yea you can use those, but you'd have to goto DOS and force-flash them. ATiWinFlash won't do it due to their Part Number (P/N) being different (Mismatch)

Hey thanks bud, I'll give it a try and see what happens. What was the stock voltage at
according to the bios? Yeah the memory is running pretty fast already. According to the voltmeter its getting 1.89volts I think but I can't see getting much above 864 with the Samsung 1.4 memory.

Thanks again

Just wanted to say that your rom file flashed succesfully but I had to do that in dos mode because atiwinflash threw an error about product number mismatch, no biggie really because I would have tried it in rambios first anyway so all in all thanks for help. Ill hope this solves some of my problems with the card.

Hey thanks again man

Loaded up the bios using atiwinflash. booted up the system
and everything works fine.

Unfortunately the voltage and oc's are unchanged. Still at 1.23V core and 1.83 memory
as indicated by voltmeter. I'll play around with it more tomorrow night and try flashing
again , maybe in dos mode this time.

Video card still locks up at exactly 641 when I use ati tray tools to find the max.

Ket will have to chime in as to why that is. Sounds a bit fishy to me though.

Kett said before that most cards without a volts table lack the hardware to use one. Is your rail under volted? The x1950pros run from 1.25 to 1.3v,maybe upping your pcie voltage can give it a small boost:confused:

I'm having a odd problem: i can get stable with the clocks :573/708, then i raise the core a bit up and i get artifacts...... ok normal here pushing the core too much...... but when i set the clocks to 588/695 i pass artifact testing without problems for more then 10 min....... so whats wrong :p? Maybe not enough power?

Advice to the owner of the XpertVision card and Hynix memory, set the CL timing (the first) to 11, this will grant you max stability and overclock. I'm still researching for the other timmings.... but rabit real-time feature does not work very well. Maybe i will post a optimized bios later.... maybe talk to Ket to see his finding too.

Yeah, all you have to do is to take Ket's bios, the 1.4 mod one. Then look at the timings he has used, and then use RaBit to dump your bios, save a copy of your original, then adjust the timings according to Ket's bios, you should be able to get the same performance. Then all you need to do is to flash it with atiflash.:) ;)

I'm suspecting that the Asus version may not have the hardware to support the voltage table.

Power wise I'm using and "old school" Vantec 520 watt psu . Has a single rail at 28amps I think. Its a few years old maybe getting a little tired so maybe that's why I'm undervolting a little on the core.

I'll try another new psu I have and see if it makes any diff.

Just curious Formula, what are you using to edit the bios?

I tried some different editors but just get errors.
