I bought a combo deal at Newegg for a Powercolor 3850 512MB version and 2GB DDR2 OCZ Ram for only ~$50 after rebates. The only reason for the upgrade is my brother's video card broke, and instead of him buying another low-end card, I figured I might as well make a significant upgrade from my X1950 Pro. I realize all the rage is about the 48XX cards, but the cheapest I have seen a 4850 is ~$130 after rebates. That is 2.5 times what I payed. I am going to try playing games at 1920x1080, but I can lower the resolution with 1:1 pixel mapping and I won't really care. I really don't need to play everything maxed out, but it would be nice obviously. Was this a good purchase for my situation?
