Grand Theft Auto V development 'well underway'

Saying that Rockstar Games is working on a new Grand Theft Auto game isn't exactly a bold prediction. However, sources close to the Take-Two Interactive subsidiary have confirmed to GameSpot that the next installment in the blockbuster series is "well underway," and is already having final touches such as minigames being applied to it. The source said a 2012 release was "pretty likely." Unfortunately, the sources would not divulge any further details on the project, which is already the subject of much speculation.

As of press time, Rockstar reps did not have any comment on casting calls, the game's setting, or whether a new GTA was even in development.

I just hope GTA V is more freeroam style like SA was and yes horrible PC port would be awful thing to have. Good PC version would get multiplayer mod teams (like MTA) to work on something worth playing. I'm not really a fan of SP in GTA, always liked to play MP sometimes.

I just got done watching the Max Payne movie and OMFG that was stupid. They better not base Max Payne 3 on the movie. They also better not clone the first two games because that style of gameplay (completely linear) isn't very attractive to gamers these days.


As for GTA5, I'm interested. I hope they don't drop support for PC though. That's pretty much the only title Rockstar sends to PC anymore.

GTA4 wasn't such a crappy console port as it was just demanding for hardware, this has already been discussed again and again, and for the amount of things you can do in the game and the sheer size of it........


The PC support has been crappy, AFAIK xfire and sli still dont do well, and you need a quad core to run it, so all the people who have cried about games not using quads can suck it. All those without quads can remember that unlike consoles, we have windows loaded and running, antivirus, and much else besides a game running taking up resources, and your particular mix of hardware might be low on the spec scale.

Either way, I love the free roam and the eggs you find in these games so I will continue to buy them and upgrade hardware as needed to play them as I want. I have had hundreds of hours of fun with GTA and for the $50 they charge you can't go to a movie for that, or eat, or do anything. And I still haven't killed all the damn flying rats.

it was a port , such resources are needed because the game's assets are being emulated .. somehow

i didn't played a lot because the controls (handling) were crappy .... it felt like a port to me

That is what we all buy it for, the insane jumps, sniping, whores, strip clubs, and a good old fashioned rampage after a bad day at work so we really dont go get a few lines of coke, a bottle of jack and break out the heavy artillery on those that piss us off.

I know after a few beers and a hour of blowing shit up with or without cheats I feel better.

GTA 1 and 2 where kinda cool on Playstation back in the day but i never liked any GTA apart from Vice City and the Balad of Gay Tony which even had its boring bits in places.

San Andreas is supposed to be the best GTA but i never felt it was that entertaining or that great a game, i always preferred Saints Row which is just over the top and never takes it self seriously so you i forgive its shitty parts because it was actually fun.

Not really excited about another GTA.

Shiiiiiii Saints Row 1 and 2 suck ass lol.. I don't know how people even dare complain about GTA 4 and not that load of pos..

EDIT: Hoping the driving done much much much better this time. Keep noticing in that video it keeps locking up time to time too like if there was a lack of CPU power.

Saints Row II was a horrible port to PC. Forget about playing it on anything less than a tri-core. If you can put up with its shortfalls though, it is a good game.


GTA4, they added more physics to the game rather than doing it cheap and easy like they did in GTA3-SA. I agree that was a mistake.


GTA4 on PC is far more polished than SR2 on PC. I liked both and therefore, and looking forward to the sequels from both camps. I think I look forward to SR3 more so than GTA5 though.
