Sorry, the card my friend is giving me is a GTX 660Ti 2G, not a GTX680. Not sure if that is as good? I know a 660 is worse than a 680, but not sure if the Ti part helps lol.
660ti was one best bang for buck cards at the time you could buy. its not a bad card def a ton better then that gt730.

660ti was pretty close to power of gtx670, they had to disable memory controller on 660ti cause it was bad but card was around 5-10% slower then a 670, which 670 was like 10% slower then a 680.

If you have a Core 2 Quad or Extreme, you can go as high as a GTX 970 or Radeon R9 390 which are high end cards and will do well with those CPUs.
Now the R9 390 at load will pull around 300w, but the 970 will top 200w max from your psu.
They are both great performers and love to game.
That can be your limit, other GTX and R9 models are awsome too. It is your pick.
If you are asking me, i would go with the 960 GTX, but 4GB version, or R9 380 3GB.

min requirements specify gts250
gt720 has 102gflops of fp32 performance,gts250 has 387gflops.

memory bandwidth 12.8 on 720 vs 64 gb/s on 250.

seems way lower

The hell guys, this thread was 4 years old.

Make a new thread instead of dragging old ones up.
