Its actually % not FPS and using a Reference 960 as base 100%. I see the tit for tat now..

My GTX 750 should do at least 50fps in that test. Why would anyone need more?

Not all games are created equal. Just take for example the recent GameWork titles that both sides struggle to get good fps @ Max settings in 1080p and higher.

Your looking at dialing back to medium or low setting to achive a 50FPS+ if the trend continues.

Looks like this 960 is the full GM206 chip also. Which means there won't be a 960 Ti based on it.

Which makes me curious about what was going on last fall, when Nvidia decided not to release the 960. They said it would cut into the 970 sales, but *this* 960 wouldn't have done that. So was the 960 slated for Oct 2014 really a reduced GM204 back then, and this 960 was going to be a 950 Ti? It's just a name anyway, but it wouldn't have been unreasonable. Possibly the yields on the GM204s were good enough that it made no sense to do a further cut down chip so early, and the 970 already shook AMD a lot... forcing them to sell the 290s for cheap. So Nvidia just held back. The fact that the R9 285 was so mediocre probably played a part also.
