Yes it is. It's a pretty demanding benchmark.

Use GPU-Z To Monitor your card Clock speeds, if you card keeps the same clock speed everything is fine if your card clocks down after a while maybe you need to change something.

For example is there enough air flow in your case? Something blocking the card to intake fresh new air? or exhaust the air out of the case.

What card do you have ?

like erocker said its normal and you should also be aware that modern gpu's can handle about 95c. 80c is the target temp set by nv.
there is probably nothing wrong with your airflow but I'm sure erocker could provide you with further insight knowing the settings your using along with your clocks and score.

I overclocked my 7850 but have not touched my 290.. tis a beast like your 970 right? well that's my thought..

You said its eVGA super clocked is that with ACX cooler or ref cooler? ACX cooler has 2 fans, ref cooler has 1 blower style fan. ACX probably should be below that but ref cooler that is pretty much normal.

That's a reference style blower cooler. It ejects all the hot air out of the case.

Mine runs at 75-77 on the useless stock cooler on the same benchmark. Chances are I have a slightly more airy case, But 80 would be perfectly fine.

I have heard that Nvidia throttles the GPU at 80 degrees. I don't know if that's true or not but you might increase the fan speed and try running Heaven to see if you get a better score. You might be giving up some performance.

Benchmark Scores well I've fried a 775' P4 12 years ago, that counts?

i have a gigabyte GTx 760 OC // Arctic Silver repasted 1 mount ago,
iddle: 35-41
Full Load: 76 ...

Before repasting:
Iddle: 41-47
Load: 76-81..
Stock settings at OC Guru II,

Modified settings:
Settings 1
Power Target: 105%
Fan curve:
40-50 Fan @ 50%
60-70 Fan @ 60%
70-80 Fan @ 80%
80-90 Fan @ 100%>>> at this point fans sound its pretty insane,
occasionally reaches 65c ...

Settings 2
Power Target: 105%
Fan curve:
40-50 Fan @ 70%
60-70 Fan @ 80%
70-80 Fan @ 90% >>> at this point fans sound its insane,
80-90 Fan @ 100% >>> at this point fans sound its pretty insane,

Pretty fine... it never gets to 60... with Settings 2

Also im thinking on repasting again on march as when i delid processor, with arctic cooling MX4, im thining aboyt using also Coolaboratory liquid ultra on it, as far as i know coollaboratory never degrades ... but not sure if it may fuck my Windforce,

for your Reference / Blower cooler temps are pretty fine!

By default they do start back off the boost clock at 80c. Nvidia has a base clock which card will run no matter what but then they have boost clock which can be ~200-300+ more then base clock. that is the Clock that is sacrificed when it hits 80c. You can use a program like EVGA Precision to increase fan speed to keep card cooler or increase the max temp higher.

Well, I have to be honest, I don't understand why EVGA released a factory overclocked 970 with the reference blower fan.
Yes, when you put heavy load on the GPU (try any recent game on ultra and you will reach the heavy load I'm talking about) it will reach 80ºC, fan will be pretty audible and boost clocks will back off.

People complained about 2 other issues with this model:
1) Coil whine, which can be somewhat ignored as sometimes this is just an issue between PSU+GPU and
2) Bad factory TIM, as some has replaced it and got better results with a decent TIM. Maybe do this if you really know what you're doing? Else raise the fan a bit and lose one of the advantages of Maxwell (lower temps/lower noise)

Just for reference, from some TPU reviews:
