HD 5770 on Ultra Settings @ 1920x1080 for BF3

Something's maybe not right or I can't just probably believe it but my rig is able to play BF3 in Ultra settings at 1920x1080...

Is it really possible? Based on what I've read, BF3 really makes high end GPU sweat and to think mine is already considered low-end nowadays...

Any other HD 5770 users out there who care to share your experiences with BF3?

Although, other than the crappy graphical glitches in the beta, my 4870's in CFX ran it smooth as butter.

Yeah, judging by this slide you should be able to do Low to Medium. The 5770 is def. holding back your setup. A GPU upgrade would release Alice free.

my friend does play it on his 6770 at ultra but his res is 1368*768. he plays it pretty well indeed.

wonder how my 4650 is going to cope with it

Given your entire system specs, it really shouldnt be happening... feels like something else might be at play, perhaps in the drivers?

Look at my system specs, I can'y acceptably play on Ultra.... but I want 60+ fps... if you are getting say 20-25+ and that is smooth to you then maybe thats it?

i think he gets 30fps. 30fps is more than enough for me as long as it doesnt drop below 20 at any time.

Where it really bites hard is MP, in SP I can run all ultra and have a ball but my FPS takes a dive on 32+ player servers when the shit hits the fan.

My rig defaults to high settings in BF3. My monitor is 1280x1024 though. It is nice and smooth. The only thing I can put my finger on is the yellow flowers in the vegation scroll in as I move across the field. That is something I saw on the boat (USS Hornet/GeForce LAN 6) that comes in to play with higher settings, ie. increased ground cover/foilage.

A 5770 could run at ultra, yours is, but the fps my be taking a pretty good hit. Cheers to the 5770!

my rough estimate also is somewhere between 20 to 30 FPS... now that's fine for me for as long as it is not "choppy" slow then i can live with it...

so i guess that's maybe it...

but i'll try to play around it a bit more when i get home later... i'll try to get in-game screenshots and monitoring tools as well...

by the way, i only play SP... that's maybe it, me getting just between 20 to 30 FPS...

but i'll see later... for my standards, it's still playable...

when i experience choppiness and lagging, then that's "unplayable" for me

... and oh, i'm using 11.10 and amd thinking of trying out 11.11...

Probably like me & Crysis Warhead i can play just fine , smooth & no lag @1920x1080 Enthusiast setting ever since i got my 8GB of ram i still run in the 30f/s but it's run real good
People should really stop thinking that they need more then 60f/s to play games when most of them will play just fine between 30-60f/s

thats more CPU related. IMO. Also RAM related etc.

A buddy of mine has almost the same 5770 as my cruncher and his on ultra with 4xMSAA 16XAF HBAO AA processing on high gets 20FPS and some dips in fighting. Mine I have tested on medium with no AA and 4XAF no HBAO gets 60+ and dips to 40's in certain places. The test was done on my cruncher in my system specs

high still looks great IMO, I thought I was close with 20-25 fps but 17-22 isn't far, crazy you find it playable tho! good on you :toast:

17-22fps is a stuttery mess on my M11x so I find it very hard to believe this could be considered playable.

25-35fps on the other hand (what my M11x now achieves after heavy tweaking, overclocking and the new 285.79 drivers) is relatively playable but not 100% smooth.

Turn off MSAA. It really doesn't work very well on AMD cards in BF3 (well it doesn't work very well in BF3 full stop due to the lighting engine but hey ho).

My HD6970 rocks Ultra settings (no MSAA) at 1080p so meh

Just switch off MSAA, and play at Ultra (with tweaking 1 or 2 settings which don't really make that big a difference o IQ as they do to performance)

yep, my single 5770 handled ultra easy enough @ 1680x1050. with maxed out AA etc. averaging 32-40fps.
when crossfired (with latest drivers that addressed the xfire bug) averages 50-60.
what a beautiful game graphics wise.

The OP is running 1920x1080p and doesnt have CF.

Ultra settings at 1920x1080 on multiplayer, absolutely no. The 5770 jst isnt equipped for BF3 at that resolution. Drop the video settings to medium and change the resolution to 1680x1050 and add 2x antialiasing to compensate.

the gpu wouldnt be the limiting factor in single player vs multi. that would be cpu or ram if anything... maybe gpu if we were talking about a newer rts like sc2
