Hey guys i have a 128 mb 9800 pro running at 412/365 (xt speeds). it has an R360 core and i've been trying to flash it to xt completely. i was dumb and used ati tool to change some of the memory timings and now i cant get the same 3dmark03 scores again. i was getting 6500+ and now i'm getting 6200-6300... :( i tried to change the timings back but its just not the same... i really need to know exactly how step by step to flash my card with the xt bios. i've been trying but cant get a correct floppy boot going... thnks for any help

3.2GHz @3.46 prescott socket478

hm you have to make with windows a bootablr floppy
then put your org bios and a xt bios on it+ atifash or flashrom
boot from floppy

then flashrom.exe or atiflash.exe -p 0 xt.bin or org.bin -f
it should work
then names of the files you have to specifi k?

I thing that you should read this: http://www.rojakpot.com/default.aspx?location=3&var1=92&var2=0 ;)
After determination of the exact PCB type:
1. In case that you have 9800pro card based on XT PCB let me know (doesn't matter 128 or 256mb. I can provide you with with perfect moded and original BIOSes for 128MB XT but you have to have XT PCB).
2. In case that you haven't got an XT PCB proceed like in the guide (find moded BIOSes).

Few questions:
What type of memory do you have? (Hynix 2.8ns or Samsung 2.8ns?)
What core - R350 or R360?

Success!!!!

Edit: R360 core (i checked cuz i installed a Artic Cooling Silencer) + Hynix 2.8ns

I'm pretty sure i have this card:
"Radeon 9800 Pro with R360 core, Hynix memory, 9800 Pro PCB
This card is moddable using 'modded' BIOS images for 128MB cards using Hynix memory."

Thanks gR3iF i was missing the .exe while trying to boot, thats why i was getting the command or syntax no recognized or something

Thanks dolf for that article to help me find which PCB i have.
i was wondering does it matter if i flash my 128mb card with the bios of an ati 256mb 9800xt w/ hynix?
Does that screw anything up?? and also where can i find a moddied bios that would actually work perfectly for my card?

In principle it is posible to flash 256MB 9800XT BIOS on your 128MB 9800PRO card but DON'T do it! :D If it was with XT PCB flashing with 256MB BIOS will get it to work with Overdrive but the memory controler will know that there is 256MB which is not true. Card will be recognized like 256MB
I've moded some 256MB XT BIOSes to 128MB for my own card (Sapphire 9800PRO with XT PCB and 2.8ns Hynix). These moded BIOSes are perfect (I am useing one of them) but they are suitable only for 9800PRO 128MB with XT PCB!!! The normal PRO PCB doesn't have LM63 (temp. monitoring chip) and the BIOS doesn't support it of course.

Later I will send you all 128MB 9800XT BIOSes for 9800PRO PCB that I have. All them are moded and most are for Samsung memory but don't embarrass because they work also on Hynix. In spite of this you should check them.

Here it is the promised BIOSes. The Sapphire BIOS is real (original) 128MB 9800XT from their 128MB 9800XT model (it has PCB different than XT and PRO but BIOS worked fine on my PRO with XT PCB without Overdrive of course.
Sapphire doesn't use Overdrive at all that's why this BIOS basicly supports tempterature monitoring (LM63) on XT board but useing ATITool for instance, no Overdrive tab.
On 9800PRO board I am not sure that it will work properlly but you should try it. If it works proper don't even waste your time with other BIOSes (they are not real XT but converted to XT). If the Sapphire BIOS doesn't work try others because even that they are not real XT they will unlock the features of your R360 core).
Please post the results of your experiments because I am curious to know!

Success!!!!

I forgot something:
If you work with flashrom (2.40) for instance use the following command line during flashing: flashrom -f -p 0 (zero not o) xxxxxxxx.xxx (bin or rom). The bios name must be max 8 symbols with extension 3 symbols (bin or rom). Thats all folks.

WHOOOOO!!!! SWEET SUCCESS!!!! :D :D :D :D
THANKS A MILLION DOLF!!!! :D :D :D :D :D

that sapphire bios worked like a charm!!! n i finally figured out how to get atiflash to work on a dos boot disk. YAY!! i'm happy now

here are the results:
3DMark03: was 6500 now 6843 wow something happened in the timings or something cuz that score went up a lot
3DMark05: was 2644 now 2710

that was really fun except for the waiting n being hesitant part :D :D :D :D :D :D :D
