i've been getting HUGE LAGS with audio and video in games, i've tried all solutions i could think of to fix this but its not working please help.

my specs are :

Processor Intel(R) Core(TM)2 Duo CPU E6750 @ 2.66GHz
Display adapter type NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285
Total available graphics memory 3583 MB
Dedicated graphics memory 2048 MB
Dedicated system memory 0 MB
Shared system memory 1535 MB
Display adapter driver version 8.16.11.9107
Primary monitor resolution 1440x900
DirectX version DirectX 10
4GB RAM
Gigabyte Model P35-DS3R .
WINDOWS 7 UNLTIMATE 32 bit

my audio and video drivers are updated and the motherboard's drivers are installed automatically by windows 7

i think the problem might be the 2gb video memory + the 4gb ram not being used properly by a 32bit OS

PLEASE HELP

That part i don't think is your problem, try getting the drivers straight from the GB website, and your 285 is a 2gb version?

Also the underlined part is very weird

Also get video drivers from nvidia.com

While its possible for random problems to occur with the limitations of a 32 bit OS, they shouldnt occur except on really demanding games at really really high settings.

btw: 32 bit OS may limit you to 4GB total, but its 2GB per app max as well. thats where the problems come from.

Could you please give us more specifics as to these problems: is it just fullscreen games, does it occur at lower graphicss settings, can you play MP3's, video files, or web based flash (say, youtube) problem free?

If most things work, let us know what doesnt - and if most things DONT work, let us know what does.

i dont think my motherboar'd drivers are the issue here as it never gave me problems before.
all windows stuff including videos and mp3s run fine as well as online streaming.
games are played a bit better on lower setting nut not perfect but it shouldnt be the case because i have a very good gfx card as well as enough ram n CPU. and yes i play games at full screen and yes the gfx card is a 2gb version

I ran my x2 with 2GB of memory on Vista 32 with 4GB of RAM without problem (albiet on a quad), so that's not what's causing you grief. Are there other processes running that could be eating up CPU cycles and causing the lag?

is it really possible that a core 2 duo 2.6 processor is not good enough anymore ???

Can you try running a game say... 1024x768 on low settings with no AA and no AF, and see if the games run better? If so, it may be the address space issues of a 32 bit OS - if not, then its something else

And make sure you have the latest directX installed as well (its called 9.0C, even when it includes updates for 10/10.1/11, so that XP users dont download it and go "WHERE IS MY DX11?!?!?)

is it really possible that a core 2 duo 2.6 processor is not good enough anymore ???

its more than enough, assuming you arent playing some of the games out there that are massively CPU dependant (GTA IV, supreme commander, SOASE)

i have msn and kaspersky internet security running in the background

what build of kaspersky? i had some issues with 9.0.0.735, and it didnt autoupdate off that build.

still the same, horrible lags

to be honest, if you were hitting 32 bit limitations you'd be crashing, not having issues like this.

Could you please post a hijack this log?

that would be the SDK, it wont help.

Hijack this is the last thing i can think of - and maybe uninstalling kaspersky, to see if its the cause (when i fixed my excessive lag from kaspersky, i did uninstall, reboot, install new - perhaps if you upgraded, the lag remains?)

Can you just turn off Kaspersky to see if it fixes it?
That way you wont have to uninstall it if it does not help.

i'm a kaspersky user myself, the bug i had (an early bug before it officially supported 7) was only fixed by an uninstall - quitting the program didnt help.

hijack this is simple. run it, scan, post the results. it shows us a list of everything starting with windows, or attached to explorer/IE (such as toolbars, viruses, etc)

That's kind of strange, Mussels. If the Kaspersky processes are stopped, I wonder why just having it installed would be problematic. I believe you, it just seems illogical.
