Well acctually they all run at different resolutions, but yes pretty much ever game on PS3 and Xbox 360 is upscaled to 1080p (and to 720p in some games) by the console's built in chip. Some games run at higher resolutions internally then others, it depends on what the developer was able to do with the hardware. For example the first Tony Hawk game that game out on the new consoles (Project 8) only ran at about 528p or so internally on the hardware. No game on either console truly runs at 1080p internally, but many do run at 1280x720 (720p) and then upscaled to 1080p by the scaling chip. You would never know what the game truly is rendered at unless you were told by the developer of the game, because both consoles will output at certain resolution consistently (whether it be 720p, 768p 1080i, or 1080p) even when switching between games (or video content or other) of different internal resolutions. Upscaling is amazing though ain't it?

I don't think all games are rendered at 1024x600, but if they were, I wouldn't be surprised. These images look good, but I wasn't too impressed with the first game. I'll have to wait for amazing reviews before I buy another FPS.

As I said in my last post the resolution depends on the game, it varies a lot form game to game and developer to developer. This is why PC games are so much more demanding hardware wise. A PC game truly runs at 1680x1050 or whatever resolution you pick in the settings. Console games use upscaling like crazy. But I do wonder if it would make sense to bring upscaling chips to PCs so people with lower end videocards can play at lower resolutions with higher settings and have it upscaled to their monitors resolution, but then again, that might defeat the whole purpose of gaming on a PC in the first place.

That will probably never happen simply because Nvidia and ATI want people to buy new hardware constantly so they make their money.

Yeah looks sweet.. but will it be a game that goes beyond just graphics which a lot of use do say were needing more than just that.

That new video looks good to me. Definately buying it. After my FragFX comes from Best Buy next week ( hopefully ) I'll go get the first one. I suck on the controller after being giving up my console heritage in 2000 with Unreal Tournament GOTY.
