Alright so I obtained a free LCD TV from work, 37" Sharp Aquos 37D44U. The reason it was given to me is because it was a customers TV and it had a horizontal line running through the screen. Yes I know it might be cheaper buying a new TV then repairing it but do you think its the LCD panel that needs replacing or would it be something else?

If the line is caused by a row of pixels, then yes, the panel will probably have to be replaced. Probably a defective solder joint or trace inside the panel, I'm guessing.

I opened it up and noticed all the caps are fine as is the soder so your probably right the TV needs a new panel.
Might be a summer project for me.
