aside from the rest of the string being filler <G>

you will be happy with your new proc and mobo. You should see a significant jump in games, encoding and general pc life. One of AMDs biggest things with the 64 line was, realizing they couldnt compete with Intel at higher speeds (meaning they either didnt want to go as high as the P4 speeds or they couldnt). So the architecture allowed them to spank (yes fanboism, Im sorry yall) Intel with lower speeds and clock per clock instructions. I cant wait to see the finished build and some comparison benchmarks.

In a nutshell, A64 X2 crushes, stomps, and pisses on any P4 from a very great height.

Well I hope your'e right.
The mobo was a good price but the CPU in comparison was a fair bit more expensive.

Price comparison of the 939skt to the AM2 version of the X2 4800+ is quite alot.

Unsure why.
Could be the fact the one I'm getting has a 2mb L2 cache instead of a 1mb.

We'll have to wait and see when I post a P4 3.0E @ 3.4Ghz 478skt vs AMD64 X2 4800+ 939skt, 2GB dual channel & w/ Sapphire X1950pro 512mb AGP rig comparison.

Should be interesting.

Until then.:toast:

I understand where you are coming from with the 4800+ , i was going to upgrade to this cpu a while ago when i had the 4000+ single core but i found the fx60 insted which was the next 939 (top one) it was good but i have now changed to intel for the first time in nearly 10 years and it has been a better bang for buck - so my advice is buy any c2d & motherboard and you will not be disappointed.
