i7-4820k to E5-2630L. Worth the upgrade?

Hey guys. I currently have an i7-4820k 3,7Ghz running @4,2Ghz. But I have the opportunity to buy a E5-2630L v2 for $150.00.

Is it worth? Computer use is mainly for gaming and video capture/editing.

In gaming you won't gain anything more likely to lose some performance cause lower clocks, as for video work doubt performance will even be any faster probably be near the same.

Probably significantly slower for some games. Xeon L versions are mostly to save on power/heat

You will kill your gaming performance if you go with the Xeon. You would be better off getting a 4930k instead. Xeons won't do you much good for gaming because the E5s simply don't clock as high as the i7s do unless you pay out the nose for them.

depends on if you could get the blk-clock up at all
if you board supports 125 cpu strap go for it ... worst case you have a 150.00 proc you could re-sell on ebay for 500.00

Xeons don't support the CPU Strap option.

So there's really no way to get the clock speed up any meaningful amount on them.

That is why I said there is no way to get the clock speed up any meaningful amount. Upping the BCLK might get 10% at best, that isn't going to make a noticeable difference. You're looking at 2-300MHz and not even breaking 3GHz, that won't help.
