Hey guys.
I have 2 6950's in XFire, both with unlocked shaders and so far all is well..
I have also used RacerX v11 to incease my GPU upper limits, and this is also working fine.

My problem however, is that i have ( un-successfuly ) tried to increase my 3D voltage from 1.1v ( 1100mV ) to 1.2v ( 1200mV ) using RBE 1.28.
Using Furmark burn-in test, i can see that voltage remains at 1.1v. Can someone shed some light as to what i may be doing wrong ?
Both my cards are Sapphire branded, and all i changed is the ViD3 which was originally at 1100mv , to 1200mV.

Cheers guys...

er.... your flashing the cards to overclock????

use MSI afterburner or some other software overclock utility.

you should never Flash your cards EVER until your 400% certain the clocks and volts are stable!

ALWAYS overclock in software first!

Thx for the advice slyfox, but how is this relevant ? I haven't changed my clocks or anything like that. Just trying to get 3D voltage to work thats all.... nothing major.
BTW, i AM overclocking in software....

yea people are missing the point

hes edited the BIOS via RBE to have higher LIMITS in CCC thus he can overclock with CCC and no 3rd party app is needed, the cards look like they can do more so he needs a voltage bump to reach higher clocks, thus the OP is trying to mod the bios via RBE to have more voltage at 3D load aka instead of the stock 1.1v GPU hes trying to use RBE to set it to 1.2v thus allowing the unlocked 6950s to overclock higher in CCC

lets break it down

1) used RBE to edit CCC overclock limits
2) card need a volt bump for higher overclocks
3) trying to use RBE to up the 3D voltage to obtain said higher clocks
4) if all goes well he can use CCC to software overclock the unlocked 6950s even further

hopefully these points of mine clears up the case of stupidity that has befallen this thread

i dont mess with upping volts personally so i have no answer for you but hopefully clearing this up will help you out.

Actually crazyeyes, you got it wrong too (sorry :) )
I adjusted my overclocking limits using an app called RacerX v11.
What that does is change my registry settings which in turn increases
the overlocking limits within CCC.
The only thing I want to use RBE for is set my 3D voltage... that's all

just to confirm, you used the gpu register button to change voltage, not the drop down under the clock speeds?

Also, Did you do a full shutdown and pull power for a few seconds?
Certain flashes don't take well until that is done.

Also, I'll need to check, but maybe Furmark is one of the apps that doesn't read voltage correctly.

A lot of them don't on these cards.

I know Afterburner does.
As an option, you could install that temporarily to just see what it reads.
The latest GPUz is supposed to, but it still doesn't read them correctly on mine.

I think thats what the problem is. I did manage to OC my card to 930Mhz this time round whereas it would crash before, so it seems as if the voltage change has taken effect just not showing in Furmark. I will install AfterBurner when i get home from work and see if the voltage shows up.

Cheers

Ok.
I can confirm that the 3d voltage does indeed work but not showing
in furmark.

Problem solved.
Thx guys. :)

I'd guess that as long as you can notify the voltage "jump" during GPU-Z monitoring (either from the log file it generates or by displaying the max values in the sensors tab - it needs to be activated during game playing), then "all is well" and forget about other's software glitches.. ;)
