I dont know much about computers but there is a cool and cheap online computer store
and i built a pc for my movies and gaming. I picked each part then paid extra for them to install it then ship it.
So i am asking on opinions how i did and what maybe i screwed up on.

Parts are as follows

1 intel core I5 2500k
1 Asus P8Z68 Deluxe Z68 LGA1155 USB3.0 motherboard
1 Corsair Professional Series Gold 850W ATX Fully Modular 80PLUS Gold Power Supply
1 Noctua Heatpipe Cooler W/ NF-P14 140MM & NF-P12 120MM Fan
1 OCZ Vertex 3 Max Iops 120GB SATA3 6Gbps SSD Drive
1 Diamond Radeon HD 6970 880MHZ 2GB 5.5GHZ GDDR5 Video Card
1 Western Digital Caviar Black 1TB SATA3 6GB/S 7200RPM
1 Antec Dark Fleet DF-85 Full Tower Gaming Case
1 Corsair CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 Vengeance 8GB 2X4GB DDR3-1600 CL9-9-9-24 Dual Channel Memory
1 AuzenTech X-MERIDIAN 7.1 2G PCI 7.1 Sound Card Oxygen HD Dolby Digital
1 ASUS BW-12B1ST Blu-Ray Writer

PLUS $50 to put together

Basicly i looked at all parts that had reviews on them buy other people who purchased one
and most importantly stuff that was on good sales
Do you guys think this PC will be real good for my downloaded shows and gaming ?
and will it be decent still in 2 years? Thank you very much for reading

Rig is fine, and $50 to throw it together isn't too bad.

I'm not sure what you are coming from, but this rig is more than capable for the next few years.

I agree, your system is perfectly fine, I have my system for longer than 2 years, and it still plays everything, so I don't see why yours shouldn't be fine for the next few years or so...

Welcome to TPU...

Nice choices. I agree with the others, you picked some fine technology there to carry you for a few years.

Let us know how you like it when it comes in and, maybe, post some pics.
The peeps here will, more than likely, give you any help and advice you need to tweak it... that is, if you want to.:)

What's done is done so you may not even want to know if you overpaid, but if you do you could post up an itemized price list. Still though the parts are fine.

Actually looking closer there may be a problem. What model Noctua heatsink did you order? You listed the fan part numbers, but not the model number of the heatsink. With those fan model numbers I'm thinking it's a D14, and the D14 is too big for the memory you have.

edit: That is to say it protrudes over the first memory slot so memory with tall heatsinks can't be installed there. The memory you picked will have to go in 2 of the last 3 slots. Which I guess isn't that big of a deal. You can get shorter memory later if you need more, and I don't think the motherboard config would care if you use the 1 and 3 slots for the memory install.

AMD's new 28nm GPU should be coming out this year, other than "I would have waited for that" your rig is looking great and your GPU is still beast anyways.

http://www.fudzilla.com/notebooks/item/23714-28nm-radeons-this-year

when looking at video cards i was looking at a similar priced card called the
nvidia GTX 570 hd fermi but the memory on the 570 was 1500 and the 6970 was 2000
so i figured more memory the better. Also the AMD 6970 can hook up multiple displays
Another reason was the AMD 6970 card was on a special web deal and was $400 regular on for $300

...Where can I find THAT deal and is it still going?

Also I think you've misunderstood on the fan. It'll work, but if you want to upgrade your memory in the future you'll have to make sure you get low profile heatsinks. If you buy the same type of RAM you have now it wont work because it's to tall to fit under the fan.

6970 does better at resolutions higher than 1920x1080, 570 excels under that. but they are almost identical (performance wise) and $300 is a good deal.

Nice rig, good choices. You can always add another 6970 down the line if need be.

What OS did you go with? If they put it together and installed the OS and drivers for $50, that seems like a great deal!

The case was a bad move, but that's it

why whats wrong with the case? i was looking at all the cases and i wanted something that looked very nice and at the same time had good cooling and was big on the inside and it has all the easy hard drive swap bays and most important dust filters.
I looked at the highly rated cases like the Corsair Obsidian Series 800D Full Tower Case
and a couple others but i thought they were very ugly and i want my computer to look very unique.

The other choice in cases was $140 more then the antec dark fleet
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=63138&vpn=VN10006W2N&manufacture=Thermaltake white
http://ncix.com/products/?sku=58680&vpn=VN10001W2N&manufacture=Thermaltake black

Now the thing is guys is that the video card " AMD 6970 " was a suprise special that that site has sometimes that are ridiculous cheap and the card was $400 on sale for $300

BUT the card is on back order at that price and the sales rep told me i will have to wait a week before they start building it cause the card wont be in till then and i got a call today
that the card is still not in :wtf:
So i can still change anything on this order , i could still change the ram to have less heat sinks to upgrade later and i can change the case or i can even change the 6970 to a GTX 570 and get my computer in 2 days.

So if you guys see anything that i should change i would greatly appreciate it .
I use a sony 55 inch LED as my monitor BTW

Oh yeah before i forget also the sales rep talked me down from buying a
OCZ ZXSeries 1000W power supply that was on sale for $140 and said that OCZ rate their power supplys higher then they are and talked me into a Corsair Professional Series Gold 850W Fully Modular 80PLUS Gold Power Supply instead that cost $40 more. Was that a bad move?

Case is very personal, so he has no right to criticise unless your case is horrendously bad (shorting mobo etc.), Card is out of stock pretty much everywhere http://www.hardwarecanucks.com/news/video/amd-high-end-gpus-mia-at-retail-relief-coming-soon/

As for power supply, Corsair makes extremely good consumer PSUs across their range, whether that particular model is better than the OCZ's is debatable but Corsair is always a safe bet. Not a bad move, but a safe one. That said, some OCZ PSUs are very good, others, meh.

Don't even bother adding more RAM for the next couple of years. It won't do anything for you. 8GB is more than adequate even if you use CAD programs or 3D rendering programs such as Maya, 3DS Max etc.

If you must upgrade your RAM later down the line, you can look into faster RAM (1600Mhz, CL7), but honestly, you would be better off spending that money somewhere else.

My other suggestion is that if someone is going to put this thing together for you for $50 that sounds like it's someone you know. You should watch them do it or have them walk you through it. The hardest part about building a computer is selecting the parts. Putting it together just requires patience and common sense. It's not much of a step up from putting together a Lego set.

The store he ordered it from (NCIX) does a VERY nice job with building for orders like this. I think he made a good decision in having them put it together for him, as he is new to this. He can practice on it by upgrading later.

Maybe I wasn't clear with my post, but I meant he should watch so he can learn.

Well i want my computer real bad and it looks like i am going to be waiting weeks for my 6970 to come in so i think i might just go all out and spend $800 on my card for a killer one that is in stock now.

I was looking at one video card that i think is a little older but the reviews on it show really high benchmarks and its the EVGA GeForce GTX 460 2WIN 700MHZ Dual GPU 2048MB

I could get that instead of the 6970 or i can get a $800 card too. If you guys were willing to spend that much on your card what would you get?

If I wanted to spend $800 right away I would get two GTX 580 3GB's hands down. But if you want AMD go HD 6990. The 460 2win isn't really an "enthusiast" option IMO. It's just two 460's on a pcb, and it isn't that special. Dual 580's will yield the highest performance period.

I agree, your system is perfectly fine, I have my system for longer than 2 years, and it still plays everything, so I don't see why yours shouldn't be fine for the next few years or so...

I see you have a GTX 560 Ti.
How is it performing? Considering you have a low-end Core 2 Duo CPU.

I have had my E8400 since 2008 (and have OC'ed it to 4.05Ghz; Stable; 24/7).

How do you think an HD 6870 would perform for me?
