There will be no photo or video evidence because my phone is malfunctioning.

Long story short, woke up way too early and came up with a suboptimal decision to clean my mechanical keyboard with something along the lines of...
1715628511781.png
This mess made half my buttons go offline, half of them went total voodoo. Fortunately enough, isopropyl alcohol was qualified to mitigate most of the damage, ultimately leaving me with a couple misbehaving keys. Not sure if the keyboard in question will live for much longer, this is day 0.

Any decline will be reported here. Please don't try being like me if you're at least pretending to be reasonable.

Bruh. Just pull off the keycaps next time, clean them under warm tap water and leave overnight to dry. Frame/base itself just wipe with a wet cloth, give a spray with compressed air or vacuum with a soft brush nozzle. It’s not exactly rocket science.

Damn... Which model is it?

Lmao made me remember when i was poor as shit as a teen and saved some money to buy a Razer Cyclosa, my mom cleaned my desk using a wet cloth and some "general cleaning" product, keyboard had several keys not working and some randomly pressing themselves for.... idk 3-5 days? Then it started working flawlessly again after that time, but Jesus Christ i was so depressed as i had it only for 2 weeks when this happened

Funnily enough, the Cyclosa was marketed by Razer at the time, from memory, as a spill-proof and “durable” model. Guess you technically tested out that claim. It’s a membrane, so that tracks, those can be very resilient until they just suddenly give ip the ghost completely.

First time reading? I had windy mind because woke up way too early. I know it's not how it's supposed to be cleaned.
Damn... Which model is it?
Some no-name Outemu Blue one. Goes by the name DEXP Black Sword in Russia, no idea what its real name is.

I know how to do it the right way. Argh, why are people so keen on missing the point!?

My Blackwidow Ultimate also had such marketing upon it. Guess what? It didn't survive brief exposure to water. NEVER TRUST MARKETOLOGISTS.

I know, hopefully you aren’t completely incapable to this extent since you’re here on TPU, it’s just a comedic routine and a bit of advice if someone who DOESN’T stumbles on this thread somehow.

Mechs ARE less water resistant, that is true.

Because some people online (even here at TPU) are gullible enough to do exactly what you did once they've seen it.

You should see the fun stuff super-geniuses do when they've watched a couple of TikToks.

Anyhow, hard to assume that people know how to do anything the right way these day. Sadly.

This thread is why I love My Logitech G510. It has a barrier between the keys and PCB on the board that means that I can clean everything. The keys are easily removed and are great at clean up. Trust me if you are in Canada and indulge in the Halfing's leaf you will appreciate that. I have even spilled beer onto the KB with no effect. It is getting those fine buds of hemp that falls between the keys to make a big head when you are tapped out (Holiday with no herbs) with no access.

That's stupid .webp and XenForo being unable to convert it to what it's supposed to be. Fixed the OP.
It's probably because you used cleaner on your keyboard. I've attached photos to posts without issue.

And don't blame XenForo either. Tons of photos here in this forum.

For years.

:)

Fixed the OP.

I was just kidding lol

but yeah embedding is so just easy to do, my subconscious was like hmmm

but yes I was actually just kidding :D

Thanks for being a wholesome member of our community.

if you are in Canada
I wouldn't care about keyboards at this point. My main concern would've been the nearest international airport, preferrably with planes going to South America.

You, however, have the nerve to be toxic about it. That's minus five million internet points for you, m8.

This doesn't help against dust, blood spatters, and dead insects though. Washing hands more often than I do it will also ruin my skin completely.

Jokes aside it's actually convenient, crumbs/spills doesn't get under the keys. When it is time to clean, just run the cover under the sink, etc.

I've seen them before, not for me, as I like the unique feel of mech keys and various switches, don't want to ruin that any. Makes sense though, I ruined one of my boards by dropping a bowl of hot chili on it by accident a few years ago... :nutkick:

Sir, I think you killed your keyboard. Might want to keep that Barkeepers Friend on a high shelf in the garage buried behind a lot of stuff so that you will be fully awake next time you get to it. :)
