I used to have a blue ray on my samsung 24" lcd monitor and the pixelation was horrible. I expected more from a blue ray player, but I guess you need that nice high end tv for it to look good. Interesting part is when I download 1080p movie Trailers it looks amazing like the blue ray should, but it didnt.

Something was obviously wrong then as BluRay should be better than a 1080p trailer. You don't need a high-end TV as long as you have the right components.

I found I had to turn down my sharpness setting to clean up the pixelation on my bluray movies. The sharpness setting was exaggerating the film grain effect and it made the picture quality look like shit.

I think all that DRM junk gives Blu-Ray movies problems.

To the OP:

You should put those tower speakers on the floor. Maybe get some short speaker stands to bring them to ear level. You'll get better stereo imaging. Those cabs have the speakers all up towards the top and then you have them sitting up with The TV like that. Looks nice though :)

Thats a nice setup you have though. Enjoy!
As for me; I have an htpc hooked up to my main TV in my Den but I rarely game on it. I do game on the PS3 on that TV though.

My Den has a 61" Samsung Series 7 1080P LED DLP. My living room has a Westy 37" 1080p LCD. While my main gaming rig has a 1080p 24" LCD.

Thanks for the info, I did have them on the ground, but the wife did not like the way it looked along with my 18 month old daughter picking at them  so I had to sacrifice on sound for looks and to protect them from that little somebody I have running around my theatre room which she things she owns:laugh:.

Those tower speakers have two 5" domes, one tweeter and one 8" sub-woofer on its side. They sound awesome and sure do assist my 150W 10" sub which I have on the floor. I do need to reinstal my centre channel because the bass is vibrating it loose off the wall.

You also have a nice setup. 61", that is huge

Ahhhh you have a little one running around. That explains that. And it does look pretty sweet with the speakers up.

My Wife has one baking in the oven. heh.

Here is a shot of my tv while watching Transformers on Bluray. My cam sucks..

You can get at least 500+ HD DVD movies for less than $5 a pop. Most costs bellow $2, it's a great investment if you are into High Def. HD DVD Players don't cost much, maybe about $50 or so, I have two of them (A35 & A3) and using the one as a back up though they are built like bricks.

Some may think I am nuts 4 buying HD DVD's at incredible $1.99 prices, but the way I look at it is cheap priced High Def is High Def regardless how you get High Def :D

HD DVD was the direct competitor to Bluray and they lost.

That's what happens when you spend over a $Billion$ to buy off the industry right SONY

HD DVD link:
http://search.inetvideo.com/search?p=Q&lbc=inetvideo&ts=custom&w=hd%20dvd&af=&method=and&view=grid&isort=price

Quick History:
HD DVD was the overall better format in terms of price, player, movie, interactive features, internet connectivity along with many other bonuses. They also did a better job up-converting SD DVD's than Blu-Ray players at the time. HD DVD used Microsoft's HDi where as Blu-Ray used Java. HDi was 100% more easier to work with.

But Sony wasn't in the market to lose out just as they did with BetaMAX. So at the end they paid big money to Warner Bros. and FOX which were planning on joining HD DVD. But once you dangle large $$$$$$ in the CEO's fat faces, they go nuts. Sony already had several other studios like Disney and MGM cash wipped.

HD DVD had better compatibility support for standard DVD's and most earlier HD DVD titles had better HD picture quality compared to Blu-Ray's earlier titles.

Starting around mid 2008, Blu-Ray has caught up to HD DVD in terms of picture quality for most titles. Blu-Ray had better audio features and support but you would need a $10,000 audio setup to hear any difference. I am quite happy with HD DVD's Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD MA formats.

I don't know many families buying their kids set ups like these..
If any of yas play expert in a true team like manner.
please feel to holler at me sometime.

D007 in steam.
Bishop in game.

Desperately need some good team players to hook up with..
People who use mics. lol

All day it's been non stop ridiculousness again..
Almost makes me just want to stop playing sometimes.

Besides..
I know people on 40-70" tv screens can see things much better..lol..
kinda hard to miss anything when it's huge. XD
us old folk need that advantage..

My OCZ Equalizer gaming mouse broke as I was playing L4D. RMA on the way. Boy this game really gets to people. It's all about High Def gaming fun, everybody plays in there own unique way. It's how you use that advantage or disadvantage together to better each other.

Sure there are some that really need to get better in SP before entering MP, but I really don't mind when people are not that good. It sort of makes it fun IMO.

The one thing I hate is when somebody consistently tells everybody how to play the game which usually ends up dying first.

I am slower when gaming on my Big Screen and a lot faster when gaming on my trusty 17" CRT Sammy.

I love this game. I record every game and today we had a 4 hour session on no mercy on expert and it didn't even count for me :( I recorded the video on fraps at 30fps and full size and was 1920 x 1080. I've got about 80gb of videos :D

Lol I tolerate a lot..
It's nice to have a mature group of people to play with.
that you know won't just throw insults out there.
and do things like shoot the entire team in the face for fun..

Thats why steam made friends lists.
and im sure we all use them as much as possible.

I like to play with my age/maturity group.
no one's paying me to babysit..lol..

We are all entitled to play the way we deem as fun..
no one way is right for any two people..

That is funny though..
it always seems to be the guy barking orders that dies first..
then later on you see him get his pharm-assist achievement lol..
I like people who just know to look after each other and have common sense..
you can tell who they are immediately..

and holy crap.. 4 hours?! lol..
must of been like 5000 zombies were harmed..XD

These dang new drivers messed with my overscan now though..
dropped me to 1700x1000 res.
my 1920x1080 has effectively been reduced to a 1700x1000.. :(
thanks nvidia..lol..
Hope new drivers fix that..
still running max everything else though..
this game is so easy to run at max..

I've got 3 friends who I like playing with because A they are good and B they aren't stupid. It's nice to play the game and meet new players who are equally as awesome as you. Also the microphone antics are great banter and me and thee neonlightning always play together ever since bf2.

Whats your steam account and I'l add you D007 since you sound like a half decent team mate.

I've played(s) with some people that will just leave you and run away if you get attacked by a hunter or a smoker. I would never dream of doing something like that.

All pansys! I used my 37" Maganvox 720p as my monitor for quiet a while. And i set it right on my comp desk, I was only about 3 - 3.5 ft away and I didn't have to lean forward to see things so no eye strain. And since I was still sitting at my desk reaction time was still fantastic, I now hate playing on my 22" :(

HD DVD's were out first they had a bit of time to get them better setup, to compare a original Blu-Ray to a HD DVD at that same time that had time to progress isn't quiet fair. Like it says Blu-Ray has balanced it out now, nothing released without some hitches. But it is pretty apparent what Sony did,I seen these bargain prices coming along time ago, it's still worth buying an HD-DVD player just to pick up some good cheap titles.

Great point. I like to go a little more in depth in regards to HD DVD and Blu-Ray.

No excuse because Blu-Ray was developed well before HD DVD was even on paper. HD DVD’s Picture Quality was only better because it was much easier to transfer and convert video to HD DVD as apposed to Blu-Ray. I don’t think people realize the complexities within the Blu-Ray format. At one point in time just after its release, many within the industry thought Blu-Ray was defective by design. That is how bad it was in the beginning. Not to mention the mandatory hard coating put on the Blu-Ray discs were rotting away which really did not help the longevity of the Blu-Ray format.

An example: HD DVD had 15GB and 30GB movies which looked “Superior” in Picture Quality than 50GB Blu-Ray movies. We are talking about identical movies here from studios which supported both formats.

I've researched this topic quite extensively before 2006.

This is how I read the whole greatly avoidable High Def Blue Laser WAR!!!
Sony (Phillips) created this Blu-Ray format with a lot of help by Panasonic. Toshiba, Pioneer and Samsung had some concers with the format but still sort of backed it.

It was Warner Bros. and a few other studios which which had concerns about Blu-Ray and offered an alternative by compressing High Def content onto DVD-9 Dual-Layer discs. The DVD Forum voted to approved this.

But later on Toshiba and NEC annouced there version of a Blue Laser format (HD DVD) which finally got approved by the DVD Forum after being rejected at least twice. Notice that the DVD Forum still has not approved the Blu-Ray format and most likely will never approve such a format.

Sony & Toshiba could not for the life of us all come in terms with each other to release ONE Blue Laser Format. So they both forced the industry into a Blue Laser war.

In other words, it was all about money and royalties. Toshiba held the most royalty profits for SD DVD. And the last thing they want to do is allow Sony’s Blu-Ray format to take away all those royalites & profits.

Toshiba pushed the HD DVD format but in all the wrong ways. Sony was much more aggressive in pushing Blu-Ray’s success. They did not want another BetaMax failure.

At the end of the day, PlayStation 3 certified Blu-Ray’s success along with Sony giving away a lot of money to further certify its success.

If Micro$oft placed the HD DVD player into the XBOX 360 it would have most likely given the HD DVD format a much stronger position. Toshiba (Being the lone HD DVD backer) tried and tried but MS did not budge stating that gamers should not mix with home theatre. But today we now know MS was wrong, now most people are using High Def home theatre to play PC and Console games in High Def. But then again, the HD DVD format would have forced the XBOX 360 to sell for more money which in tern would have most likely hindered its inisial successful sales figures.

In my opinion, Toshiba is stupid to just cold hard drop the HD DVD format, its still a viable PC solution and a great format for a possible future gaming console, at least they would have the ability to control piracy with this format IMO. I do believe HD DVD and Blu-Ray can co-exist. But today HD DVD is dead and Blu-Ray has a much more aggressive competator called SD DVD.

A Side Note:
I wish they went the DVD-9 DL route instead of a new confusing and expensive format. Though what can I say I love Dolby TrueHD and DTS HD MA, it truly does sound cleaner than Dolby Digital Plus and other similar formats. As for the other uncompressed HD (Blu-Ray) audio formats, who cares, TrueHD sounds just as good if not better.

I've got 3 friends who I like playing with because A they are good and B they aren't stupid. It's nice to play the game and meet new players who are equally as awesome as you. Also the microphone antics are great banter and me and thee neonlightning always play together ever since bf2.
