LOWER SSD PRICES

I was looking at 4TB M.2 SSD prices as my laptops all use M.2 NVMe logic

Prices have fallen for 4TB to $299 in Canada and SATA models are $249 which is very eye opening

PCIe 3.0 are common at the low end but now PCIe 4.0 speeds are horning in at the low end.

4TB stuffed into a laptop may seem excessive but block management with 4TB means less likely to see a SSD rot down to 60% good any time soon.

Those with Intel Z690 and Z790 can use them for storing more games than ever.

It definitely eye opening that SSD prices have tumbled to the point where almost anyone can now have plenty of storage

Price rot is accelerating that I have seen

I must have missed something somewhere, but since when does one's choice of mobo/platform have anything to do with how many gamz a person can store on their SSD's ?

But back to the original question, yes, SOME 4TB drives do seem to be reasonably priced at the moment, but alot of those are QLC and/or dram-less units, not the better quality/faster TLC ones, so buy beware !

Back in Dec, I was paying around $212 for WD SN850x's, either straight from WD or da Zon....

The return of 100 dollar 1TB SSD. They play the same game as with oil prices nowadays. The WD SN770 you can get at good deal here and there, good and fast SSD.

Some time ago I scored 4TB gen3 NVMe for $155. The price is insane enough now might as well go for one of those newer 4TB NVMe drives for around $300.
£226 here (approx 281 USD at time of this post).

I checked keepa to see the 2tb and 1tb prices of this SSD as amazon annoyingly hides price when out of stock, and then could see 2TB was £114 in February before suddenly jumping to a whopping £180 and shortly after not been in stock since.

1715477727027.png

The 4TB history isnt as radical, as low as £188 in the past, and up to the current £226 now. However the price is extremely unstable, its changing almost daily according to keepa. Its like a stock market graph.

Also the above I just noticed is shipping from Amazon US. EU it seems has no stock at all of that drive. £40 of the price is import duty.

Here in Finland the prices have gotten up a little. I hope they would bump down a little so I'd get some upgrades.

Well first off they were cheaper before, so these prices aren't really like eye opening.

And second, why only z690/z790?

They are still higher here than when I bought mine. 3TB worth of SN770, and a 2TB SN850X

My NV2 1TBs cost a little over 50EUR each. Other drives which I have are older so not comparable with today's prices.

Small capacity SSD prices have disrupted the sale of 128GB and 256GB in the face of cheap 1TB and larger capacity models

I was watching 4TB as these are way more desirable or game storage

NAS boxes loaded with SATA SSD are now an option that is increasingly interesting

My Dell XPS 13 has a M.2 slot and I have a Micron 2300 512GB SSD installed in it at present, but low prices make me want to break out my screwdrivers

Pfew! I'm happy i did my deal when they where so cheap now... You have to look to all kind of shops now every day, and at some point you can do a good deal for a very short time window. So if you see a good deal, it's best to buy it, in one or two days you're deal most of times disappear.

Friday i could score two WD SN850 1TB for only 89 dollars. Today they ask 125 dollar for the same drive!

Right now SSD prices are daily prices, you have to look out every day to have a deal. If you find one, buy it and don't wait! Only tomorrow can be to late already...

A lot of hardware getting price cuts now. That would be falling demand and the general economic environment me thinks.

Small NVMEs and USB sticks have been cheap for a long time. 240-500GB NVME for like $40 has been a thing here for over a year and USB 3.0 drives haven't changed prices for three years.

My Dell XPS 13 does not even have any USB-A ports, is all USB-C with PD on all ports. I figure USB-A is now headed to adapter land given USB-C advantages.
USB-C sticks are still uncommon but dual sticks are popular.

Running ScanHD on the OEM Micron 2300 SSD 512GB which is a 98 layer NAND SSD shows its is even more sluggish then feared

Must be real slow compared to more recent contestants

NVMes are lookin good right about now. For 2280s under 1TB and g4x4 this is the best lineup on newegg right now:

I'm already juggling PCI-E lanes but I want to grab a pair of cheap disks and run them in RAID 0.
