I reinstalled my Xigmatek S1283 last night before I went to bed and repackaged the Core Contact freezer. Well I used the computer this morning and I was getting Idle temps of 40C! I was like WTF! thats worse than the CCF I just took off! Well I figured I must have put the thermal paste on incorrectly or somthing. I decided to wait until I got home from work to reapply the thermal paste. Well I did a stress test with OCCT when I got home and the load temp goto 65C with no OC! I was like WTFH! I took the side of the case off and got ready to take off the cooler when I noticed I had never plugged the CPU fan on my Xig into the CPU fan header:twitch:

I have to say im impressed that the Xigmatek S1283 had such a good idle temp for being passively cooled:eek:

Because not all motherboards will warn you that your CPU fan is not plugged in. I have that feature on my motherboard. I turned it off since I don't use a fan.

I would guess that is much worse if you out 1.6v - 1.7v on water and the pump stops without you knowing. :D

my e6600 oc'ed to 3.3 gets 27 idle on chilly days (30-33 hot days) idle/50 full load without a fan on the heatsink, though i'm using an antec 900 case..with a monster 200 MM above my heatsink

if you're wondering why i'm not using a fan i RMA'ed my first heatsink because the pins were broken...and the one i received in return had a broken fan, and i didn't feel like rmaing again

Gonna strap a 120 MM on that badboy once my cable ties come :)

My brother used one of those strings that they wrap around bread loafs so they will stay tightly closed to mount his fan on his GPU, lol.
