I was talking about the state of the stock market today with a friend and how a lot of corporate stock is taking a nose dive. We got on the subject of Intel, MS, AMD, Nvidia and Apple.

It occurred to me that were MS to buy AMD it would be like Dumb and Dumber from a marketing sense.

Last people i would want to buy AMD out is MS as seen as they support PC gaming. They probably shelf it like every thing else.

Indeed, Microsoft's focus for AMD would be 110% Xbox. Everything else is peripheral. I'd be very, very fearful that Microsoft would decide it's not worth competing with NVIDIA in the discreet market.

Our only hope is that AMD would be put under the direction of the same people in charge of Visual Studio and DirectX. They write the compilers for CPUs and GPUs. They know what they're doing unlike the Xbox division.
