Meticulously crafted, MSI's Wind U160DX netbook has received Germany's iF Product Design Award and drawn attention from all quarters around the world. Boasting a leap in performance capabilities, the Wind U160DX supports DDR3 system memory and comes with the Intel ATOM processor N455 with MSI's own TDE (Turbo Drive Engine) technology. Sheathed in MSI's own Color Film Print technology, the Wind U160DX is less than one-inch thin and tips the scales at a mere 1kg. Slender, feather-light, beautiful, and perfect in every detail—the Wind U160DX was crafted to steal your heart and soul.

MSI Marketing Director Sam Chern points out that the experience and craftsmanship that went into MSI's chic, easy-to-use Wind U160DX has created a product with all-new features, including a 10.1" power-saving LED screen with a refresh rate of 8 milliseconds—twice as fast as similar products on the market, an independent chiclet keyboard, a seamless touchpad, a striking exterior, and a battery that holds a 15-hour charge—enough for all day.

The ultimate blend of technology and art
All-new design, in a class its own: The feather-light Wind U160DX features a unique display axle, blue LED power indicator, and your choice of either gold or onyx color film print. The MSI logo exudes a silvery glow when the netbook is being powered up and the areas on either side of the touchpad are coated with color film print to protect against scratches and wear. Meticulously crafted, the Wind U160DX is an elegant piece of work in a class of its own.

Unique chiclet keyboard: The U160DX also comes with MSI's chiclet keyboard with each key independent from the others for solid, silent typing. Every stroke of the keyboard underscores the dedication put into both R&D and production, a spirit best characterized by MSI's motto “Insist on the Best."

Attention to details for a more comfortable experience
Wide seamless touchpad: The Wind U160DX comes equipped with MSI's seamless especially widened for a chic yet unpretentious keyboard area.

10.1" LED screen refreshes in only 8 milliseconds: The Wind U160DX comes with a power-sipping 10.1" LED backlit display that refreshes in only eight milliseconds—more than two times faster than traditional laptops. It offers a smooth, clear, crisp picture when you watch movies and animation as well as more details and richer colors. Now, you can have cinema-quality visual entertainment on a netbook.

    Breaking performance barriers
Intel's latest ATOM processor N455: The Wind U160DX employs Intel's Pine Trail platform with the new generation power-sipping Intel ATOM processor N455 that supports DDR3 system memory for outstanding performance.

TDE turbo technology: The Wind U160DX features MSI's epoch-making TDE (Turbo Drive Engine) technology which can crank up the overclocking to instantly enhance the netbook's processing performance, maximizing its hardware capabilities. It supports up to 2GB of DDR3 system memory for the ultimate in light and fast mobile computing.

15 hours of extended battery power*
ECO Engine power saving technology: MSI's exclusive ECO Engine technology allows the user to effectively extend the Wind U160DX's battery life with the touch of a finger. You can choose from among five power management levels—Gaming, Movie, Presentation, Office, and Turbo Battery. Actual tests have shown that the MSI Wind U160DX's battery power lasts up to 15 hours on one charge, allowing you to leave the cables behind.

Supports 3.5G mobile network: Not only does the Wind U160DX supply 15 hours of continuous battery power, it offers full wireless network connectivity, including internal 802.11 b/g/n wireless network and Bluetooth v2.1+EDR. It also supports 3.5G mobile network for quick and easy connection to high speed wireless networks anywhere, anytime, allowing you to communicate with the world and enjoy the future of computing today.

GMA3150 is nice (comapred to GMA950). Though i wonder why can't they stuff 500GB drive in it, preferably a Seagate Momentus XT... Or a Scorpio Blue 500GB if they have to...

GMA3150 is the same as the GMA950 except for its packaged on the same chip as the cpu.

N455 denotes DDR3 support compared to the N450 which is DDR2.
    Mussels and FreedomEclipse say thanks.

I'm guessing the battery used in the picture is probably like the 3 cell 3~4 hour battery and the actual 15 hour battery will come out of the back tumor-like. Probably increasing the weight to 1.3kg as well...

There's no way it does 15 hours on a 3 or 6 cell. I have an MSI wind ECO u110, and it does 12 hours, but uses a 9 cell..

I wish they did a 1366x 768 resolution instead, either to be 10" or 12" (they could add more battery to that to fill the inches. )
    Completely Bonkers says thanks.

I'm pleased that when Win 8 is launched, there will be NO MORE silly x600 screens on netbooks.

Requirement "display...at least 768px width (tablet) or 768px height (desktop)"

there is way - the use of DDR3 & the N455 being more energy efficient the the N280 @ the same clocks, google says your MSI wind u110 has a Atom Z530 processor, the Z530 was released in 2008. I would say technology has come a long way since 2008. the Atom Z530 was probably a 'pilot' or 'prototype' chip to test the market before pushing the design further, the same way Intel released Core Duo mobile processors on laptops first before coming out with the Core 2 Duo line for desktops.

its just the way it is, and who are you to argue with progress?

the new ones integrate more into the CPU, and get rid of the power hungry NB chipset that the early atoms used.

there hasnt been many advances in tech in those 2 years, but when you're dealing with such a low wattage system even a small saving can add large amounts of time to the battery life.
