Main work would be on Photoshop, Indesign and Illustrator. No games or movies.

Here is my parts list:

Thermal Compound ArcticSilver5High-DensityPolysyntheticSilver3.5g $6.89

Motherboard Gigabyte GA-H97-D3H ATX LGA1150 $84.99

Memory CorsairVengeance16GB(2 x 8GB) DDR3-1600 $129.99

Storage Samsung 840ProSeries128GB2.5" SSD $118.98

Samsung 840 Pro Series 128GB 2.5" SSD $118.98

Power Supply Corsair 850W ATX12V / EPS12V $127.50

Monitor Eizo FS2434-BK 23.8" $375.99

My budget is around $1400

By the way, i do not plan on doing any 3d work for now

Should i go for Xeon Processor instead of i7?

Can anyone suggest any changes ?

first thing I would look at is if the applications you are gonna use really and i mean REALLY benefit from a quadro gpu. Because you are paying $150 for something that is essentially a half cut GTX 750. If the app has CUDA optimization just get a normal geforce, it it has OpenCL implementation use radeon. If neither is used (and CPU power is more important) then get the best CPU money can buy and get any gpu. Just an example the GTX 750 and 7850 will probably be two times faster and cost $90

You could get the i7 and try out the integrated graphics before splashing out on a graphics card and see how that goes.

If you're going to be doing photo editing and audio editing, your biggest two friends are going to be lots of RAM, and a multicore CPU, preferably multithreaded as well.

So, your choice of 16GB of RAM and the 4790 are good choices.

So how does Intel Xeon E3-1231V3 with 16GB sound ?

Should i opt for a setup with socket 2011 to future proof it, as i dont my pc that often, my present setup is 7 or so years old.

Personally, there is no such thing as future proofing. Technology advances too quickly. Just get the best you can afford for the task or tasks you want the PC for. If that becomes socket 2011 for you, then great!

I don't know how the Xeon would do compared to the 4790.

probably Intels best value cpu if you dont need integrated graphics.

know what software your using? need to check out all the requirements to know if a AMD or NV gpu will be better for you.
