Run a second 7870 xt instead of the 8350

You think that would be a better upgrade..??

It looks like you could slide the fan mount upward a bit to get the clearance. How much clearance do you need?

FYI- on my Xigmatek coolers the ram slides in right along the fan and snaps right in. Xig mounts can also be moved up a couple of fins up/down as necessary... yours should be similar

Ok, perhaps the space in between my cpu and ram slots is smaller on my motherboard than normal..?
But that's helpful Norton, I do need a fair bit of clearance as the ram is pretty sizeable..i might not have enough give to slide the fan up high enough to clear the RAM but I will try tonight =)

Its abit unfortunate because I can really see how much better it would be with a push/pull system. I just don't want to ziptie..I want to do it properly if I can. =)

not if your only doing 1080 or 1200p. My single non-OC'ed non-GHZ edition 7970 handles 1600p without any problems yet. Although I'm DL'ing Crysis 3 as I type this, so that will probably change.

Add push-pull fans to that cooler and pick up an FX-8350 if you feel you need more cpu power but other than that it looks good

have to agree. Add a second fan bud for Push/Pull and wait for steamroller. But nice build. I would have gotten a FX 6300 instead of the 6100 though

Thanks man, its really annoying but I cannot fit another push fan on the otherside of the cooler due to not enough room between the cpu and the ram modules =( (Refer to earlier in this thread).
an yea I bought the cpu probably 4 years ago so it was where my price range was at the time.
My next upgrade will definitely be an 8350

Can't you just slide the fan up (well, the direction that's up, if you put the computer on it's side) a little bit? then you could do push/pull. the AMD FX-8350 would be a good upgrade from your existing CPU.

the fan should be able to slide up to allow for taller RAM. I never had any problems with corsair vengeance which are pretty tall. The FX 8350 is a pretty solid chip and a nice upgrade. I use a FX 8320 OC'd

I will try again over the weekend. But im pretty sure the fan doesn't go high enough to get enough clearance over the RAM modules.. But I will double check!

Yea I'm definitely thinking that will be my next upgrade..
