What do you guys think would be better.

    2 xfx 4830's in crossfire.
    or
    2 xfx 4850's in crossfire.
    or
    1 xfx 4870 xxx.

I want to have either installed with in a month.

    Thanks in advance :toast:

I say 4870 because you can wait till you have some cash to crossfire it..

2x4830 beats a GTX 280 but not at every situation. So yea, go with 2x4830. And are u going to put those in ur system specs rig. That proc bottlenecks a little.

Why do that.. No upgrades are possible.. If he gets a 4870 then he can crossire later.. Ya 4830s are better but 4870 crossfire woops em :D

4870 does give more future possibility. But if he wants power now, 4850 xfire.

Sweet thanks. My main goal is to be set to game and bench. I heard the 4830 can overclock really well. So I figure with a overclock I can run em at the specs of dual 4850's. If you guys have better suggestions for gxf makers Ill take those also. I just chose xfx because I heard a lot of good from the nvidia fanboys.

A 4830 = underclocked 4850 (except less shaders) . So that means a 4830 can easily achieve the 4850 speeds. You might as well go 4850xfire for $40 more.

Very true. Thanks again Spearman914. Ill be looking forward to this new hardware. Do you think it will be a serious bottleneck running those in my current set up? The reason I ask is because it would be a month or soo until I can upgrade my processor.

    spearman914 says thanks.

I’m not really an AMD person, but I can tell u if u don’t bench, it won’t bottleneck as much. But at some points it will, bottlenecks are highly noticeable only in benchmarks.

I have 2 4850 crossfired and i love it. BUT the one thing is that ATI sucks at making drivers so if you cant get crossfire to work use the 8.10 Catalyst Drivers.
