Yeah, because Wikipedia is infallible.

How about this?
They're in a command prompt in a dir named 10. Seriously? This is stupid. The kernel is 6.4.

I also know web analytics when I see it. I know how to manipulate HTTP request headers too. I can make my Windows 7 machine look like any version of Windows I would like or something fake that doesn't exist. It isn't hard.

Gahhh. Microsoft pisses me off that they're using version numbers for marketing. Assholes. This sounds like upper management doing a little too much micromanagement.

Perhaps the biggest performance boosting driver update AMD has had in years and the only thing posted about it on the AMD board is this petty rant thread.

Disgusting, they deserve better than this.

Who's ranting? People here have been expressing problems they're having since installing the damn thing. I'd hardly call that ranting, nor petty. The off topic stuff about Windows 10 is more ranting than anything.

I'm no where near as knowledgeable as a great deal of you here (I don't even know wtf "DDU" is - I suppose google is my friend ) so when I ask questions here, people have been really helpful and nice about helping out, thus why I started this thread. I'm sure the new driver is omgfuckingawesome! but what good is it if it's apparently causing problems for some people?

I'm sorry if my "petty" thread is above you, Frag. :respect:

Just saying it's strange that pretty much EVERY AMD driver update gets a thread here, and people pretty much always use it to talk about whether or not it improves game performance. Yet when a driver releases that yields their biggest performance boost for games in years, all we see here is a topic about messed up desktop features.

I'd say considering Unity and Far Cry 4 are both Nvidia endorsed games, AMD are doing a lot better than they are on drivers lately. You just don't come off sounding like someone remotely concerned about or appreciative of what AMD is up against in competing with Nvidia, or the fact that this is primarily a gaming forum.

And sorry, this thread is not above me, or AMD for that matter. The fact that you even said that kinda proves my point about your lack of respect. And I don't care how many people thank your post for it's silliness. Doesn't change my opinion one bit.

I think the only thing that's "borked" is your user skills and ungracious attitude.

Frag, take it easy on the poor guy. I just reread the OP and it's devoid of any inflammatory or flame bait opinions.
If people have problems, let's help them.
If fuck wits want to gate crash and Troll AMD then perhaps a mod can cleanse the thread.

If people are getting angry and frustrated, they're allowed to express that.
It's also unhelpful for people with no problems to treat this thread as an anti AMD rant.
I'm sure someone can create an Omega thread that talks about the improvements.
Finally, I've worked in the service sector for 20 years. Guess what, happy people generally don't say much at all but people with an unsatisfactory consumer experience tend to make the most noise.

Never had have any problems at all with AMD drivers -
I think when people get problems when installing drivers (not just AMD) it is, in 98% of all cases, not the drivers fault,
but the surroundings/enviroment/applications/the installers ignorance fault........

I just open up the ccc and select reset to defaults, Then un-install the driver.

After that i look for and AMD/ATI folders and delete them.

A quick Crap Cleaner reg scan and a clean and that's it.

The new install is golden after that.

I've done it this way for years and dont have any issues :toast:

Don't even go there, understand? I never once claimed I was some kind of computer genius. I simply came here asking for help on a problem that's clearly below someone so educated on the matter like yourself. Everyone here has been very helpful, but you just *had* to go there and call this petty.

Seriously, have you even read TPUs own review of this new driver? Even they say it's "just another driver from AMD." - not some miracle like you claim it is.

To everyone who was nice enough to help, thank you. Aside from this little misunderstanding, it's why I come here.

Microsoft just pushed out an update to fix the problem with KB3004394. Apparently it only effected Windows 7/Server 2008 R2.

Edit: Update required restart for me.

Edit: Trying Omega again.

Last Patch Tuesday broke many many things. I recommend people remove the latest updates.

As for the rest of this thread, if you do not have an issue with the current AMD driver, or if you do not have a solution/recommendation for those that do have issues, there is very little point in you being and/or posting in this thread. This forum is to help those that have problems, not berate them because you don't.

KB3024777 fixed it. 14.12 Omega installed without problems.

It was Microsoft's fault after all.

Edit: ROFLMFAO!

KB3024777 literally just uninstalls KB3004394! Hilarious! *slow clap for Microsoft*

If the OP can clarify the Microsoft KB patch as above we can conclude that the Omega driver was in fact borked by MS.
That would be a nice conclusion.

As far as i can tell it never installed on my system and not even the other, how ever i did notice a update last night KB2978128 which is a .Net update which brought the system to it's knee's for a good 10 minutes which i thought was odd.

AMD Rep said:
Dear User,

You had recently provided feedback on an issue you were experiencing installing the Catalyst Omega Driver. I wish to thank you for the feedback you provided and we have been actively investigating the same.

It would appear that the issue was actually caused by a Microsoft Windows update that incorrectly marked the AMD drivers as ‘unsigned’ and thereby prevented the drivers from being properly installed. The Windows Update in question was KB3004394 which was pushed the same day that the AMD Catalyst Omega driver was released.

We have worked closely with Microsoft who have temporarily removed this update while they investigate the issue. You can find more information on this Windows Update at the following link:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/3004394

In order to resolve this issue, you will need to uninstall this Windows Update by following the directions at the link above.

Once you have uninstalled the update, you will need to do the following :

· Reboot your system

· Uninstall the remnants of the Catalyst Omega installation using the Add/Remove Program option in the Control Center

· Reboot your system

· Install the Catalyst Omega driver package appropriate for your Operating System

· Reboot your system

We are confident that you will enjoy the new features, increased stability and performance improvements that the Catalyst Omega Driver provides.

Once again, I thank you for your feedback.

Regards,

*censorate*

KB3024777 fixed it. 14.12 Omega installed without problems.

It was Microsoft's fault after all.

KB3024777 literally just uninstalls KB3004394! Hilarious! *slow clap for Microsoft*
