New Intel core 2 duo in old core 2 duo mobo ?

hi guys can u tell me if the new intel core 2 duo's (e6850) will work in an asus p5b deluxe wifi/ap or do u need one of these new p5k mobo's ?

C2D sockets are LGA775. To check your motherboard socket, download CPU-Z and see. It would be under package.

it just not a matter of socket compatibilty, intel usually block their chipsets to prevent ppl from using new cpu's on older mobo's
look on asus site, too see if latest bios is compatible
