New mobo for xfire

I'd like to get a new motherboard so i can run two HD4870x2s, however i know that intel are about to release a new generation of chips. What i want to know is: will the socket type change, making any new motherboard i buy now i complete waste of money?

If you want to run two 4870X2's you need a mobo that has a 2x 16 PCI-e 2.0

And yes the new architecture will bring out a new socket. X58 uses the LGA 1366 socket.

If you can wait get an X58 mobo

If you cant wait get an X38 or X48 mobo.

The socket is going to change, to 2 new ones. 1366 will be the main one for "enthusiasts", the other one is rumoured to have restrictions on overclocking.
